Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses adaptasi interseks dengan identitas seks dan gender yang baru, dan bagaimana proses inidianalisis dengan konsep seks, gender, dan seksualitas Butlerian. Interseks adalah konsep mengenai seksualitas yang belum banyak dimengerti oleh masyarakat Indonesia yang pada umumnya menganut gender binari. Oleh sebab itu stigma terhadap kelompok ini sangat umum ditemukan. Akibatnya banyak individu yang mencari cara menghindari stigma sosial terhadap interseks, salah satunya dengan cara intervensi medis untuk menyesuaikantubuhinterseksdenganidentitasseksbinari. Penelitianinimenggunakanpendekatan kualititatifdengan strategipenelitiannaratif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi kepustakaan. Wawancara dilakukan kepada 3 informan inti, 3 informan ahli, dan 3 informan sebagai triangulasi data. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di beberapa kota di pulau Jawa, yakni Semarang, Bogor, Jombang, dan Malang. Lokasi ditentukan karena informan yang memiliki karakteristik sebagai subjek penelitian ini bertempat tinggal di beberapa daerah tersebut. Waktu penelitian dilakukan mulai dari bulan Maret sampai bulan Juni 2019. Konsep yang digunakan adalah konsep seks, gender, dan seksualitas Butlerian, lebih khususnya adalah konsep performativitasnya. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, dapat dilihat bahwa dalam proses adaptasinya, interseks berusaha mengikuti apa yang dikonstruksikan oleh lingkungan sosialnya terhadap mereka, yaitu untuk melakukan konstruksi seks melalui operasi medis, termasuk pembelajaran terhadap gender barunya. Salah satu interseks bisa dengan mudah beradaptasi, karena hal ini sesuai dengan peran gendernya yang lama. Namun interseks lainnya tidak serta-merta menerima keputusan ini karena masih nyaman dengan peran gender lama, negosiasi mereka ditolak karena dianggap tidak sesuai dengan norma yang telah dikonstruksi oleh pihak yang memiliki kuasa: negara, keluarga, dan ahli medis. Maka dengan diawali oleh keterpaksaan, interseks juga mulai bertindak sesuai dengan gender barunya. Tindakan ini secara performatif memengaruhi bagaimana mereka dan lingkungannya mengidentifikasi diriinterseks. Meskipun begitu, stigma yang ditujukan kepada interseks masih ada, yakni sebagai transeksual. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penyesuaian yang dilakukan oleh interseks terbenturdenganketidaktahuanmasyarakatterhadapkondisiini. ************ This study aims to determine the process of intersex adaptation with new sex and gender identities, and how this process is analyzed with Butlerian concepts of sex, gender, and sexuality. Intersex is a concept of sexuality that has not been yet well understood by Indonesian people who generally adhere to gender binaries. Therefore stigma against this group is very common. As a result, many people are looking for ways to avoid social stigma against intersex, one of them is by medical interventiontoadjustthebodyofintersexwithbinarysexidentity. This study uses a qualitative approach with a narrative research strategy. Data collection is conducted by observation, in-depth interviews, and literature study. Interviews are conducted with 3 core informants, 3 expert informants, and 3 informants as data triangulation. The study takes place in several cities on theisland of Java, they are Semarang, Bogor, Jombang and Malang. The location is determined because the informants who have characteristics as the subject of this study reside in some of these areas. The study is conducted from March to June 2019. The concepts used are the Butlerian concepts of sex, gender, and sexuality, morespecificallytheconceptofperformativity. Based on the data obtained, it can be seen that in the process of adaptation, intersex tries to follow what the social environment constructs on them, that is to carry out sex construction through medical operations, including learning about their new gender. One of the intersexes can easily adapt, due to the alignment with their old gender roles. However, other intersexes did not immediately accept this decision due to their comfortableness with the old gender roles, their negotiations were rejected because they were deemed incompatible with norms that had been constructed by those in power: the state, family, and medical experts. So by being forced by force, intersex also begins to act according to their new gender. These actions affectively influence how they and their environment identify themselves as intersex. Even so, the stigma aimed at intersex still exists, it called as transsexual. This shows that the adjustment made by intersex was collided with people's ignoranceofthiscondition.
