Abstract

Thisstudyaims toimprovethe process and the result of students’ speaking skill through sociodrama method on studentsofEnglish Department of STKIP Setia Budhi Rangkasbitung in Banten region. The participants include33 students in the third semester. This study isconducted using action research by applying Kemmis and Mc Taggart Model which consist of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting in three cycles. The instruments to collect information arestudents’ test, students’ interviews, observation sheetsand field notes. The findings revealed that the completion of sociodrama based on speaking tasks were the most frequent activities used by students to practice and develop speaking in the classroom with additional task in the form of homework and it improved every cycle. This research indicatedthat the implementation ofsociodramatask-based helpedstudents practice speaking skills a lot and improvedtheir speaking skills on aspects of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, and comprehension
