Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pemberdayaan perempuan yang terdapat dalam sebelas lirik lagu berbahasa Inggris di album Future Nostalgia milik Dua Lipa. Menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang deskriptif-analitis-interpretatif, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pemberdayaan perempuan dibentuk dan jenis-jenis pemberdayaan perempuan seperti apa yang terdapat dalam lirik-lirik lagu berbahasa Inggris di album Future Nostalgia milik Dua Lipa. Teori-teori beserta konsep feminisme gelombang keempat yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, terdiri dari: (1) Teori Semiotik yang dikemukakan oleh Roland Barthes untuk menganalisis makna eksplisit dan implisit dalam setiap kata dan/atau frasa, (2) Teori Model Pemberdayaan Perempuan Tiga Dimensi yang dikemukakan oleh Huis dkk. sebagai teori utama untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis pemberdayaan perempuan, (3) Teori Dimensi Pemberdayaan Perempuan yang dikemukakan oleh Malthora dkk. sebagai teori pendukung untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis pemberdayaan perempuan lainnya, dan (4) Konsep Feminisme Beyoncé sebagai konsep pemberdayaan perempuan pada gerakan feminisme gelombang keempat dengan memanfaatkan penggunaan internet. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa banyak kata dan/atau frasa yang mengandung pemberdayaan perempuan dalam sebelas lirik lagu di album Future Nostalgia milik Dua Lipa. Kemudian, jenis pemberdayaan perempuan yang paling banyak ditemukan yakni jenis Pemberdayaan Perempuan tingkat Rasional (Relational Empowerment) dan Pemberdayaan Perempuan dalam Dimensi Keluarga/Interpersonal tingkat Rumah Tangga (Household Indicator of Familial/Interpersonal Empowerment Dimension) dimana posisi, peran, dan kendali penuh atas suatu keputusan oleh perempuan lebih dominan terrhadap pasangannya dalam suatu hubungan. Kata kunci: Pemberdayaan Perempuan, Feminisme, Semiotik, Model Pemberdayaan Perempuan Tiga Dimensi, Dimensi Pemberdayaan Perempuan This study focuses on women’s empowerment in the eleven English song lyrics of Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia album. Using a qualitative method and descriptive-analytical-interpretative study approach, the purpose of the study is to describe how women’s empowerment is portrayed and what types of women’s empowerment are encompassed in the song lyrics of Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia album. This study uses the three theories and one feminist concept of the fourth wave feminism, which are: (1) Semiotics proposed by Roland Barthes in order to analyse the explicit and implicit meanings of the word and/or phrase, (2) A Three-Dimensional Model of Women’s Empowerment postulated by Huis et al. as the primary theory in order to analyse the types of women’s empowerment, (3) Female Empowerment Dimension proposed by Malhotra et al. as the secondary theory in order to analyse the other types of women’s empowerment, and (4) Beyoncé as Feminist as the feminist concept of the fourth wave feminism, which takes advantage of the internet use. The results of the study show that many words and/or phrases revealing women’s empowerment in the eleven song lyrics of Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia album. Additionally, this study also found women’s empowerment in Relational Empowerment and Household Indicator of Familial/Interpersonal Empowerment Dimension as the most discovered type of women’s empowerment in which women’s position, contribution, life-decision making, and full control over sexual relations are dominant.
