Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali dan mengumpulkan informasi dari berbagai sumber penelitian terkait pengaruh penggunaan metode fonik dalam peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur. Analisis dilakukan pada 7 artikel dan 3 buku dengan hasil yang didapat sebagai berikut: (1) Metode fonik mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita ringan, (2) pada analisis artikel, hasil yang didapat adalah metode fonik mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita. Sedangkan pada analisis buku, dari 3 buku yang dianalisis, 2 buku menyatakan bahwa metode fonik mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita, sedangkan 1 buku menyatakan metode fonik belum sepenuhnya mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat satu implikasi praktis yaitu metode fonik dapat menjadi alternatif bagi guru untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah metode fonik mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa tunagrahita ringan pada rentang usia 5-12 tahun. ******** This study aims to explore and collect information from various research sources related to the effect of using the phonic method in improving the prereading ability mentally retarded students. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. The analysis was carried out on 7 articles and 3 books with the following results: (1) the phonic method can improve the early reading ability of mild mentally retarded students, (2) in the analysis of the article, the results obtained were that the phonic method was able to improve the students beginning reading skills with mental retardation. Meanwhile, in the book analysis, of the 3 books analyzed, 2 books stated that the phonic method was able to improve the students initial reading skills with mental retardation, while 1 book stated that the phonic method was not yet fully able to improve the ability of mentally retarded students to begin reading. Based on the result of the study, there is a practical implication, namely the phonic method can be an alternative for teachers to improve the early reading skills of mentally retarded students. This study concluded that the phonic method was able to improve the early reading ability of students with mild mental retardation in the age range of 5-12 years.
