Abstract

************ This creation aims to develop sunprint techniques (printing with heat and sunlight) in the manufacture of outerwear works. The development of techniques for printing fern motifs that have a unique leaf shape and structure is applied to outerwear. Sunprint in the process of this creation uses solar thermal energy with acrylic paint dye and textile paint. Medium cotton fabric and linen fabric in textile crafts is done by relying on natural processes and led by creativity. The production of crafts that can meet the needs of fashion is a driving factor in the creation of this work. Ferns are chosen because they have a distinctive beauty of shape, detail and potential to create a dynamic composition. Ferns also contain meanings about humans. At the beginning of its growth the ferns coils in and then grows circularly towards the outside depicting the human who initially knew himself first then knew the outsider, corrected his own mistakes, then reviewed the mistakes of others. Thesis creation of this fine art work is also supported by qualitative data collection, among others, literature studies and product questionnaires for women with an age range of 20 years to 30 years. The creation of motifs through sunprint techniques carried out a number of 32 fabric explorations and two product series with a final output in the form of four outerwear works of sunprint fabric.
