Abstract

Maraknya para perempuan yang menyerukan gerakan feminisme akibat banyaknya kasus kesenjangan gender yang terjadi di Jakarta. Menilik kilas balik awal mula kesenjangan gender berkembang di Indonesia khususnya di Jakarta ditemukan bahwa peristiwa pergundikan pernah terjadi di Nusantara. Pergundikan muncul dan lahir di tanah Jawa karena kedatangan VOC sehingga daerah Batavia menjadi tempat berkembangnya peristiwa pergundikan. Hal tersebut menjadi ide terciptanya karya tari Nyai van Batavia ini. Permasalahan yang dibahas meliputi citra nyai di Batavia pada masa kolonial Belanda, tari kontemporer sebagai model garap tari, cokek sebagai pijakan tari, dan proses kreatif Alma M. Hawkins sebagai metode penciptaan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses penciptaan karya tari tentang gambaran perasaan nyai, peristiwa pergundikan, sejarah nyai, tari cokek, dan proses kreatif Alma M. Hawkins. Penelitian ini bermanfaat untuk memberikan wawasan mengenai sejarah dan gambaran kehidupan para nyai pada masa kolonial Belanda. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara dengan sumber data narasumber dan informan, studi pustaka, jurnal serta artikel. Data diolah dengan kode dan memo berdasarkan hasil wawancara narasumber. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa keberadaan nyai disebabkan karena adanya peristiwa pergundikan baik secara terpaksa ataupun tidak terpaksa selama masa kolonial Belanda di Batavia. Cokek yang digunakan sebagai pijakan tari bermaksud untuk menonjolkan gerak wanita. Karya tari ini digarap dengan model garap tari kontemporer melalui proses penciptaan yang diadaptasi dari metode Alma M. Hawkins. Karya tari ini menampilkan gambaran perasaan nyai dalam sejarah masa kolonial Belanda dengan 3 adegan yang disesuaikan dengan tahap pelaksanaannya. Musik pengiring pada karya tari ini diaransemen secara digital yang menggunakan suara alat musik tradisional Betawi dan alat musik modern. Karya tari ini ditarikan oleh satu orang penari perempuan. Diharapkan skripsi penciptaan tari ini agar dapat bermanfaat bagi pembaca untuk menambah pengetahuan dan wawasan. Diharapkan kekurangan dan kelebihan skripsi ini dapat dipahami terkait kondisi dan situasi ditengah masa pandemi COVID-19 yang menghambat proses penelitian. Kata kunci: Nyai, Masa Kolonial Belanda, Kontemporer, Tari Cokek. ************ The proliferation of women calling out the feminist movement as a result of the gender disparity cases in Jakarta. The first flashback of the gender disparity developed in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta, that the kinds of concubinage ever took place in Nusantara. Concubinage appeared and was born in the land of Java because of the arrival of the tribes, so the Batavia area became a breeding ground. This became the idea of Nyai van Batavia's handiwork. The issues discussed include the image of Nyai in Batavia in the Dutch colonial era, contemporary dance as a dance model, Cokek as dance ground, and Alma M. Hawkins' creative process as a method of creation. Based on these issues, the study is aimed at learning about the process of dance creation of Nyai's feelings, concubinage, Nyai history, dance and the creative process of Alma m. Hawkins. The study was helpful to provide insights into the history and life descriptions of the Nyai during the Dutch colonial era. Data collection is done with interviews with source information for sources and informers, library studies, journals and articles. Data is processed through code and memo based on interviews with sources. Studies have revealed that Nyai's presence was due to a forced and unforced concubinage during the Dutch colonial days in Batavia. The coin that was used as a dance platform was intended to accentuate women's movements. This dance was cultivated with a contemporary dance model through the creation process adapted from the Alma m. Hawkins method. This dance work depicts Nyai’s feelings in the history of the Dutch colonial era with three scenes adapted for the performance. The musical accompanist in this dance is digitally arranged that uses traditional betawi and modern instruments. It was drawn by a female dancer. It is hoped that this dance creation thesis will help the reader to broaden his knowledge and insights. It is hoped that these defects and overwritten materials are understandable regarding the conditions and circumstances during the covid-19 pandemic that impeded the research process.
