Abstract

Classroom discourse adalah bagian penting dari pengajaran kelas. Terdapat beberapa teori dari classroom discourse yang dapat digunakan untuk mengkategorikan ucapan guru untuk menganalisa tipe dan nilai ucapan yang dikenal dengan “Teacher Talk”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meng-investigasi bagaimana cara mengukur jumlah dari teacher talk terhadap student talk, teacher question, teacher assessment dan teacher correction. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode konten analisis. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa ucapan dominan yang digunakan di kelas adalah teacher talk, berdasarkan analisis dari jumlah teacher talk. Penelitian ini juga mendapatkan bahwa display question dengan tipe pertanyaan bersamaan lebih dominan dari yang lain. Pujian ringan dan pendej berada di tempat tertinggi dalam umpan balik guru dan koreksi langsung adalah tipe tertinggi dari teacher correction. Rekomendasi dari fenomena dari penelitian ini adalah kontrol jumlah dari teacher talk dengan menggunakan students-centered learning, meningkatkan teknik bertanya dan gunakan feedback serta correction dengan cara yang baik. Classroom discourse is a critical part of language classroom teaching. there are some terms in classroom discourse that used to categorize the teachers’ utterances to analyse the types and values called “Teacher Talk”. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the functions of teachers talk from English classroom at senior high school in order to measuring the amount of teacher talk instead of students talk, the teachers’ questions, the teachers’ assessment and corrections. This study is held using content analysis method. The findings of this study reveal that the dominant utterance that used in classroom is teacher talk, based on the analysis of the amount of teacher talk. This study also finds that display question is higher than referential question and in chorus type question is more dominant than others. Short and simple praise takes a highest place on assessment and explicit correction is the highest type of teachers’ correction. the recommendation of this phenomenon from this study is to control the amount of teacher talk by using students-centered learning, improving questioning techniques and using the feedback such as assessment and correction in a proper way.
