Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kerangka penilaian berdasar European Profiling Grid (EPG) pada kesadaran bahasa untuk program studi S-1 pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan Desain dan Pengembangan sebagai rancangan penelitian. Sebuah model dari Nunamaker, dkk digunakan sebagai model untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian, dan terdapat lima langkah modifikasi model: identifikasi masalah; menjabarkan tujuan penelitian; mendesain dan mengembangkan produk penelitian; melakukan Fokus dan Diskusi Kelompok, dan memperbaiki produk penelitian. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa silabus yang terdapat di universitas telah mencakupi fase perkembangan dari EPG; mulai dari siswa keguruan, guru baru, sampai dengan guru yang berpengalaman, yang merepresentasikan kesadaran bahasa. Lebih lanjut, hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa beberapa universitas memiliki fase perkembangan kesadaran bahasa yang sama. Kerangka penilaian untuk kesadaran bahasa telah dikembangan sebagai jawaban utama pada penelitian ini. Desain dari Regional Language Centre Singapore (RELC) telah dikembangkan sebagai model dari kerangka penilaian. Selanjutnya, 14 butir dari EPG kesadaran bahasa yang merepresentasikan setiap fase, digunakan sebagai butir dari kerangka penilaian. Materi untuk setiap descriptor, tingkat, dan jenis penilaian telah tercakup dalam kerangka penilaian. This study aimed at developing assessment specifications on the basis of European Profiling Grid (EPG) language awareness enabling competences for undergraduate English education program. Design and Development Research was conducted as the research design and a DDR model of Nunamaker was chosen as the model of DDR to answer the research question of this study. The six steps of DDR model of Nunamaker, et al., was modified into five steps; identifying the problem; describing the objectives; designing & developing the artifacts; conducting Focus and Group Discussion, and designing revision. Five undergraduate English language education programs was chosen as the data of this study. The findings revealed that the existing syllabi of the universities already covered the development phases of EPG; from teachers-in-training, through novice teachers, to the experienced modern language professionals, which remarked the phases of language awareness. Furthermore, the findings proves that some universities has the same language awareness development phases of EPG. The language awareness assessment specification was developed as the main answer of this study. A design from Regional Language Centre Singapore (RELC) was adopted as the model of assessment specification. Hence, 14 items of EPG language awareness descriptors, which represented every phases are used as the item of assessment specification. The materials for every language awareness descriptors, the level, and assessment types are included in the assessment specification.
