Abstract

Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui makna tersirat ataupun pesan yang ingin disampaikan oleh pembuat film. Penggunaan simbol ataupun tanda dalam pembuatan film ini merupakan sebuah landasan yang ingin dicari lebih dalam dalam penelitian ini. Serta adanya mitos mengenai makna dari per-scene�nya, dengan tujuan mendapatkan makna konotasi yang lebih mendalam lagi. Dalam penelitian ini, pendekatan yang dilakukan adalah melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan peneliti adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Dengan metode tersebut, peneliti mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi serta dengan melakukan metode focus group discussion (FGD). Penggunaan simbol-simbol ataupun mitos dalam film ini bertujuan untuk melakukan komunikasi tanpa adanya unsur dialog atau komunikasi no-verbal, tetapi penonton dapat memaknainya sendiri. Sehingga penggunaan simbol dalam pembuatan film dapat membantu penyampaian pesan dari pembuat film kepada para penonton filmnya. Film pendek Grave Torture ini merupakan karya Joko Anwar yang ber-genre horror serta mengangkat sebuah kepercayaan yang ada di sebagian masyarakat Indonesia, tentang kepercayaan adanya siksa kubur. Pemaknaan yang didapat dari analisis ini, bahwa pembuat film menyampaikan segala informasi mengenai adanya mitos di masyarakat Indonesia dengan menggunakan simbol atau tanda. Tetapi tidak semua shoot memiliki makna tersendiri untuk dimaknai. ***** The purpose of this research is in order to know the real meaning or message which want to be conveyed by the film maker. Usage of symbol or sign in making this film is a parameter that want to be found in depth in this research. Also there is a myth about the meaning of its scene, by the purpose in getting more deeper about connotation meaning. In this research, approach that be done is through quantitative approach. Meanwhile method that be used by the researcher is descriptive quantitative in such method, the researcher collect data through interview, observationand documentation and by doing focus group discussion (FGD method). The usage of symbols or myth in this film have a purpose in order to do communication without dialogue element or non verbal communication, but the audience can get the meaning by themselves. So that the usage of symbol in the making of film can help in conveying the message from the film maker to the audience. Short film “Grave Torture is made by Joko Anwar which have horrorgenre and get the theme about the belief which is exist in a part of society of Indonesia about the belief of torture of grave. The meaning that can be analysed, whereas the maker convey al information about the myth in the Indonesia society by using symbol and sign. But not all of shoothave special meaning that to be meant dimaknai.
