Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan pendidikan yang mengharuskan siswa memiliki kecakapan abad 21 untuk menghadapi permasalahan autentik, sehingga kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan dasar yang harus dimiliki siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS. Menggunakan metode kuantitatif dalam pendekatan eksperimen semu pretest dan posttest kontrol group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah non probability sampling dengan sampel kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan treatmentmodel problem based leraning, dan sampel kelas VIII C sebagai kelas kontrol dengan model konvensional . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan model problem based learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan uji t yang menunjukkan t-hitung 2.380 > t-tabel 1.999 (Sig. 0,05), pengujian menghasilkan H₁ diterima. ***** This research is motivated by educational needs that require students to have 21st century skills to deal with authentic problems, so that critical thinking skills are the basis that students must have. The results of this research aim to determine the effect of the application of the problem based learning model on students' critical thinking skills in social studies subjects. Using quantitative methods in a quasi-experimental approach to pretest and posttest control group design. The sampling technique used in this study is non-probability sampling with class VIII A as the experimental class with a problem based learning model treatment, and class VIII C as the control class with a conventional model. The results showed that there was an effect of applying the problem based learning model on students' critical thinking skills in social studies subjects. This can be proven by the t-test which shows t count 2.380 > t-table 1.999 (Sig. 0.05), the test results in H₁ being accepted.
