Abstract

Masa remaja adalah saat individu mengalami perubahan dan perkembangan dalam banyak aspek kehidupan, mulai dari psikologis hingga fisiologis. Jika tidak dilalui dengan baik, perubahan dan perkembangan tersebut akan membawa remaja pada perilaku bermasalah. Sebagian besar masalah pada remaja terkait dengan rendahnya harga diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh interaksi orang tua dengan anak terhadap self-esteem remaja awal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan asosiatif. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat 150 siswa kelas VII dan VIII sebagai sampelyang dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposif sampling dengan karakteristik remaja awal dengan rentang usia 10-14 tahun dan tinggal bersama orang tua. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah menggunakan kuisioner. Berdasarkan deskripsi uji hopotesis dengan analisis regresi, diperoleh hasil temuan penelitian sebagai berikut (1) Self-esteem remaja pada penelitian ini rata-rata (71,3%) berada pada kategori sedang; (2) Interaksi orang tua dengan anak dalam penelitian ini rata-rata(64,7%) berada pada kategori sedang; (3) Terdapat pengaruh positif antara interaksi orang tua dengan anak terhadap self-esteem remaja awal; (4) sebesar 46,5% self-esteem remaja dipengaruhi oleh interaksi orang tua dengan anak, sedangkan 53,5% sisanya ditentukan oleh variabel lain yang tidak diteliti. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlu adanya upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas interaksi antara orang tua dengan anak dengan cara meningkatkan waktu kebersamaan dengan anak seperti mendengarkan anak bercerita, mengajak anak berdiskusi, memberikan perhatian kepada anak, serta menikmati akhir pekan bersama seluruh anggota keluarga. ***** Adolescence is when individuals experience changes and developments in many aspects of life, from psychological to physiological. If not oppropriately passed, these changes and developments will bring teenagers to problematic behavior. Most of the problems in adolescents are related to low self-esteem. This study aims to determine the effect of parent-child interaction on early adolescent self-esteem. The research method used is a quantitative research method with an associative approach. In this study, 150 students in seventh and eighth grades were selected based on a purposive sampling technique with the characteristics of early adolescents aged 10-14 years living with their parents. The data collection method used is using a questionnaire. Based on the description of the hypothesis test, the research findings are as follows: (1) the average adolescent's self-esteem is in the medium category; (2) the average parent-child interaction is in the medium category; (3) there is a positive influence between parent-child interactions on adolescents' self-esteem; and (4) as many as 46.5% of adolescents' self-esteem is influenced by parent-child interactions, while the remaining 53.5% is determined by other variables not examined. This research implies that efforts are needed to improve the quality of parent-child interaction by increasing spending time with children, such as listening to children telling stories, inviting children to discuss, paying attention to children, and enjoying weekends with all family members.
