Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical data regarding the Strengthening of Character Education on social studies material for grade V Elementary Schools in Bandar Lampung City. The objectives of this study were to analyze in depth: 1) the suitability of integrated thematic books on IPS material for students, 2) the value of character education in integrated thematic books on IPS material for students, 3) Strengthening Character Education (PPK) in thematic learning, 4 ) Strengthening Character Education based on school culture, 5) Strengthening Community-based Character Education, and 6) character of Elementary School students in Bandar Lampung City. The approach used in this study is a mixed method. Sampling as a data source was carried out by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and questionnaires and documents. Data analysis is inductive. The results of the study show that: 1) Integrated Thematic Books for Class V Elementary School Students are in the very appropriate category based on eligibility standards for textbooks; 2) there are five character values that are in accordance with the main values of Strengthening Character Education, namely: religious, nationalist, independent, mutual cooperation, and integrity; 3) Strengthening class-based character education includes aspects of socialization, pre-observation, and observation of learning in class; 4) Strengthening School Culture-Based Character Education with an emphasis on school branding, habits, extracurricular activities, and school regulations; 5) Elementary School in Bandar Lampung City involves the community in efforts to Strengthen Character Education; and 6) the behavior of elementary school students in Bandar Lampung City has reflected the main value of Strengthening Character Education.
