Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejarah, motif – motif Abit Godang, dan makna simbolik pada Abit Godang. Subjek penelitian ini adalah orang yang mengetahui dan paham tentang Abit Godang. Metode penelitian menggunakan Case Study dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis data model Miles dan Huberman. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Dari data yang telah terkumpul dianalisis kemudian ditarik kesimpulan, untuk memperoleh data yang valid dilakukan uji keabsahan data dengan metode triangulasi sumber, triangulasi teori, dan member check. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sejarah Abit Godang sudah ada sejak Sipirok terbentuk atau sejak Sipirok sudah mempunyai budaya sendiri karena Abit Godang merupakan modal budaya Angkola Sipirok. Motif Abit Godang ada 26 motif, dan setiap motif dari Abit Godang memiliki makna simbolik tentang kehidupan atau simbol kehidupan berumah tangga. ***** The Purposes of this research are to find the history, motifs on Abit Godang and the symbolic meaning of Abit Godang. The subject of this research are people who know and understand about Abit Godang. The research method uses a case study with a descriptive qualitative approach with data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model. Data collection was done by interview, and documentation. From the data that has been collected, it is analyzed and then conclusions are drawn, to obtain valid data, the validity of the data is tested using the source triangulation method, triangulation theory, and member check. Research shows that the history of Abit Godang has existed since Sipirok was formed or since Sipirok has had it’s own culture because Abit Godang is the cultural capital of Angkola Sipirok. There are 26 motifs of Abit Godang, and each motif of Abit Godang has a symbolic meaning of life or a symbol of life or a symbol of household life.
