Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini memiliki tiga tujuan utama. Pertama untuk mendeskripsikan tanda atau kode terkait interpretasi kapital budaya beserta maknanya yang di intrepertasikan pada sebuah serial drama Korea berjudul SKY Castle. Kedua, untuk mendeskripsikan representasi pendidikan sebagai bentuk kapital budaya pada serial drama Korea berjudul SKY Castle. Ketiga, mendeskripsikan fenomena dan kondisi pendidikan yang direpresentasikan pada serial drama Korea SKY Castle. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama empat bulan dari Januari sampai dengan April 2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah paradigma kritis dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik analisis data yang dipakai adalah analisis wacana kritis dengan pendekatan semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce. Objek penelitian ini adalah sebuah serial drama televisi Korea berjudul SKY Castle. Serial drama televisi ini pertama kali tayang pada tanggal 23 November 2018 sampai dengan 1 Februari 2019. Dari sekian banyak gambaran mengenai realitas yang direpresentasikan dalam serial drama tersebut, peneliti hanya fokus pada gambaran mengenai representasi pendidikan sebagai kapital budaya menurut Bourdieu. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa representasi pendidikan digambarkan oleh para tokoh pemeran SKY Castle dalam modal budaya yang terbagi menjadi tiga bentuk diantaranya pertama, embodied state seperti pengetahuan umum, keterampilan, nilai budaya, agama, norma, bakat turun-temurun. Kedua, objectified state (termasuk kepemilikan benda budaya). Ketiga, institutionalized state (termasuk gelar dan jenjang pendidikan). Orang tua secara aktif mentransfer modal budaya kepada anak-anak mereka dengan memaparkannya dan mewujudkannya dengan bentuk sosialisasi di rumah, baik sengaja maupun tidak. Konsekuensi dari transmisi modal budaya juga dapat menyebabkan kesenjangan pendidikan. The first is to describe the signs and codes associated with the understanding of cultural capital and its significance as it appears in the Korean drama series SKY Castle. Second, to illustrate how education is portrayed as a sort of cultural capital in the Korean drama series SKY Castle. Third, describe the educational phenomena and conditions depicted in the Korean drama series SKY Castle. This study lasted four months, from January to April 2023. A critical paradigm with a qualitative approach was adopted as the research method. Critical discourse analysis with Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic approach was employed as the data analysis tool. The subject of this study is the Korean television drama series SKY Castle. This television drama series premiered on November 23, 2018 and ran till February 1, 2019. Among the multiple portrayals of reality in the drama series, academics solely focus on the concept of education as cultural capital according to Bourdieu. The study's findings found that educational representation was described by SKY Castle cast figures in cultural capital, which was split into three kinds, the first of which included embodied states such as general knowledge, skills, cultural values, religion, norms, and hereditary qualities. Second, the objectified state (including cultural object ownership). Third, there is the institutionalized state (including degrees and educational levels). Parents actively pass cultural capital to their children, whether purposefully or unintentionally, by exposing and exhibiting it through socialization at home. The repercussions of cultural capital transmission can also result in educational inequality. Keywords: Semiotic Analysis of Television Drama Series, Educational Representation, Cultural Capital
