Abstract

Berpikir kritis menjadi salah satu kompetensi yang sangat dibutuhkan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran, karena sejalan dengan kompetensi abad 21 yakni 5C (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creative and innovative, character). Berpikir kritis adalah aktivitas seseorang yang menegaskan pada aspek rasionalitas atau logika yang bersifat komprehensif demi tercapainya suatu proses penelaahan informasi hingga pengambilan sebuah keputusan berdasarkan kebenaran yang telah diperoleh dari diri individu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan prosedur yang dilakukan pendidik dalam menggunakan strategi pembelajaran inquiry serta upaya yang dilakukan pendidik untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Komponen Strategi Pembelajaran Inquiry menurut Janetta Garton dan Teori Tahapan dan Indikator Berpikir Kritis menurut Robert Ennis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus dengan melibatkan pendidik di SMA Negeri 70 Jakarta dan siswa kelas X. Strategi pembelajaran inquiry diterapkan melalui beberapa sintaks atau langkah seperti, orientasi, merumuskan masalah, mengumpulkan dan menguji hipotesis, hingga merumuskan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi pembelajaran inquiry kurang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Setelah melalui proses pembelajaran dengan langkah-langkah inquiry, siswa belum mengalami peningkatan kemampuan yang signifikan karena baru sebatas pada aspek merumuskan, mengajukan dan menjawab pertanyaan, serta memberikan tanggapan ketika diminta terlebih dahulu. Kata Kunci: penerapan pembelajaran, inquiry, berpikir kritis. Critical thinking becomes one of the most needed competences in learning, because it is in line with the competence of the 21st century, namely 5C. (collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creative and innovative, character). Critical thinking is the activity of a person who insists on aspects of rationality or logic that are comprehensive in order to a process of investigating information to making a decision based on the truth acquired from the individual. The study aims to describe the procedures performed by educators in the use of learning inquiry strategies as well as the efforts of educators to improve their ability to think critically. The theory used is the theory of the Learning Strategy Components of the Inquiry according to Janetta Garton and the Theory of Stages and Indicators of Critical Thinking according to Robert Ennis. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach involving educators at 70 Jakarta State High School and students of the X class. Inquiry learning strategies are applied through some syntax or steps such as orientation, formulating problems, compiling and testing hypotheses, to formulating conclusions. Research results show that the application of learning strategies inquiry is less effective in improving students' ability to think critically. After going through the learning process with the inquiry steps, students have not experienced a significant improvement in their ability to formulate, ask and answer questions, as well as respond when asked first.
