Abstract
Biology develops along with technological advancements. The wide scope of ecosystem material and the many sources of ecosystem reading require students to be able to think critically and being able to master ecosystem concepts. CirGi was an integration of the CIRC learning model and Guided Inquiry that emphasizes reading and writing activities, accompanied by guidance and instructions from the teacher and directs it to a discussion to reach conclusions. This study aims to analyze the effect of CirGi on the students 'critical thinking skills and mastery of ecosystem concepts. This study used the quasy experiment method with a pre-post experiment design control group design with sample of 104 students. Data collection was conducted with instruments of critical thinking skills in the form of essays, instruments for mastery of ecosystem concepts in the form of multiple choices, student response questionnaires to learning, and observation sheets of syntax implementation. The data analysis technique used is ANAKOVA. The conclusions of this study were: (1) there was the effect of the CirGi towards critical thinking skills; (2) there was the effect of the CirGi towards mastery of ecosystem concepts. The application of the CirGi learning model can direct, accustom, and revive reading and writing activities accompanied by scientific activities.
