Abstract

*Tujuan skripsi ini adalah untuk mengkaji ambivalensi protagonis, Rham, dalam film "RRR" yang berkaitan dengan pilihannya terkait patriotisme di tengah latar belakang pemerintahan kolonial Inggris di India. Dengan mengacu pada teori analisis naratif Todorov, semiotika, dan eksplorasi identitas nasional, penelitian ini akan menyelami kompleksitas karakter Rham dan dilema moral yang dihadapinya saat ia menavigasi kesetiaannya pada negaranya dan keyakinan pribadi. Studi ini akan mengeksplorasi struktur naratif menggunakan teori Todorov untuk mengungkap perjalanan transformasi protagonis dan penyelesaian konflik internalnya. Selain itu, akan menganalisis penggunaan semiotika untuk memahami elemen-elemen simbolis yang menyampaikan ambivalensi Rham, seperti petunjuk visual, simbolisme, dan gerakan. Selain itu, penelitian ini akan menyelidiki bagaimana penggambaran patriotisme dan identitas nasional berkontribusi pada perkembangan karakter Rham serta wawasan tentang kompleksitas pilihan manusia dan dampak konteks sejarah pada pengambilan keputusan individu. ***** *The aim of this thesis is to examine the ambivalence of the protagonist, Rham, in the movie "RRR," concerning his choices related to patriotism amidst the backdrop of British colonial rule in India. Drawing upon Todorov's narrative analysis theory, semiotics, and an exploration of national identity, this research will delve into the complexities of Rham's character and the moral dilemmas he faces as he navigates his loyalty to his country and personal convictions. The study will explore the narrative structure using Todorov's theory to uncover the protagonist's transformative journey and the resolution of his internal conflicts. Additionally, it will analyze the use of semiotics to understand the symbolic elements that convey Rham's ambivalence, such as visual cues, symbolism, and gestures. Furthermore, this research will investigate how the portrayal of patriotism and national identity contributes to Rham's character development and provides insights into the complexities of human choices and the impact of historical context on individual decision-making.
