Abstract

Primordialisme merupakan kepercayaan yang dianggap benar dan sakral, diturunkan secara turun-temurun sehingga dapat membentuk paradigma abstraksi struktural dari individu atau kelompok tertentu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana primordialisme perempuan Bali dalam novel Tempurung karya Oka Rusmini. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan antropologi sastra, penelitian ini menganalisis primordialisme dalam citra primordial yang kemudian direpresentasikan dengan konteks sosial-budaya Bali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada empat bentuk primordialisme yang kerap berbenturan dengan perempuan Bali; hieraki, sistem kekerabatan, ritual, dan tradisi yang dicitrakan pada tokoh-tokoh perempuan. Tokoh Ida Ayu, Jenggala, Saring, Songi, Rimpig, dan Sipleg merupakan citra dari perempuan Bali yang kemudian direpresentasikan dengan representasi Stuart Hall sebagai teori pendukung antropologi sastra. Citra primordial pada novel Tempurung memiliki relevansi lebih tinggi pada perempuan Bali yang berkasta Brahmana dibandingkan dengan perempuan Bali yang berkasta Sudra. Kata kunci: Primordialisme, Tempurung, Citra primordial, Representasi Stuart Hall ***** Primordialism is a belief that is considered true and sacred, passed down from generation to generation so that it can form a structural abstraction paradigm for certain individuals or groups. This research aims to find out the primordialism of Balinese women in the novel Tempurung by Oka Rusmini. Using a literary anthropology approach, this research analyzes primordialism in primordial images which are then represented in the Balinese socio-cultural context. The research results show that there are four forms of primordialism that often conflict with Balinese women; hierarchies, kinship systems, rituals and traditions depicted in female characters. The characters of Ida Ayu, Jenggala, Saring, Songi, Rimpig, and Sipleg are images of Balinese women who are then represented by Stuart Hall's representation as a supporting theory for literary anthropology. The primordial image in the novel Tempurung has higher relevance for Balinese women from the Brahmin caste compared to Balinese women from the Sudra caste.
