Abstract

Redefinisi dan perubahan makna atas konsep keluarga adalah ide yang berkembang dalam masyarakat kontemporer yang utamanya disebarkan melalui produk kebudayaan, seperti film. Film “Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens” menantang ide mengenai keluarga yang formal (terikat darah ataupun regulasi) dan heteronormatif, serta menggambarkan ide mengenai keluarga alternatif. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan framing identitas dalam keluarga alternatif (families of choice) yang digambarkan dalam film “Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens”. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam studi teks film. Objek penelitian yakni film “Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens” yang dirilis pada tahun 2021. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis teks film dan studi kepustakaan, dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis framing oleh Robert N. Entman. Teknik ini digunakan untuk melihat bagaimana sebuah wacana dibingkai pada film dalam konteks sosial budaya serta ideologi produser. Penelitian ini juga mengacu pada konsep strukturalisme genetik yang dijabarkan oleh Lucien Goldmann. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, film “Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens” menunjukkan framing wacana identitas keluarga alternatif yang non-batih, non-regulatif dan non-heteronormatif, dinarasikan melalui kisah Ali, keluarga tradisionalnya, dan keluarga alternatifnya dalam konteks komunitas diaspora. Film "Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens" me-framing konsep identitas keluarga alternatif sebagai antitesa terhadap konsep keluarga tradisional yang heteronormatif dan patriarkal, dan merupakan sebuah pandangan dunia baru yang ditawarkan oleh produser. Goldmann menyebutkan bahwa kesamaan struktur karya sastra dan struktur masyarakat dimediasi oleh pandangan dunia. Film “Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens” menggambarkan mediasi antara dua pandangan dunia, yakni pandangan dunia keluarga heteronormatif dan patriarkal dengan pandangan dunia baru konsep keluarga alternatif (families of choice). The redefinition and change of meaning regarding the concept of family is an idea evolving in contemporary society primarily disseminated through cultural products, such as films. The film "Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens" challenges the idea of a formal (blood-related or regulated) and heteronormative family, and depicts the notion of alternative families. This thesis aims to describe the framing of identity within alternative families (families of choice) as depicted in the film "Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens". This research utilizes a qualitative approach in the study of film text. The object of research is the film "Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens" released in 2021. Data collection is conducted through film text analysis and literature review, with data analysis techniques using Robert N. Entman's framing analysis. This technique is employed to examine how discourse is framed in the film within the socio-cultural context and the producer's ideology. This research also refers to the concept of genetic structuralism elaborated by Lucien Goldmann. Based on the research findings, the film "Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens" demonstrates the framing of discourse on non-binary, non-regulative, and non-heteronormative alternative family identities, narrated through the story of Ali, his traditional family, and his alternative family within the diaspora community context. The film frames the concept of alternative family identity as an antithesis to the heteronormative and patriarchal traditional family concept, offering a new worldview by the producers. Goldmann states that the similarity between the structure of literary works and societal structure is mediated by worldview. "Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens" portrays the mediation between two worldviews, namely the worldview of the heteronormative and patriarchal family and the new worldview of the alternative family concept (families of choice).
