Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang konsep diri remaja otaku. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan studi kepustakaan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah remaja yang mengidentifikasi diri sebagai otaku yang terdiri dari ketua dan anggota komunitas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsep diri remaja otaku pada komunitas Jakarta Japan Lunatic Club dengan menggunakan teori interaksionisme simbolik cenderung positif dengan kepercayaan diri dan interaksi yang baik ditunjukkan oleh remaja tersebut. Mereka juga dapat menjelaskan konsep ketertarikan terhadap otaku melalui 3 aspek yaitu pikiran, diri sendiri, dan masyarakat. Faktor yang menghambat interaksi mahasiswa otaku pada komunitas Jakarta Japan Lunatic Club antara lain adalah stigma negatif, kurangnya pehaman terkait kesenangan atau hobi sebagai otaku, perbedaan minat dan kesukaan, dan juga prasangka buruk yang berlebihan terhadap kegiatan otaku ***** This study aims to describe the self-concept of otaku adolescents. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, documentation, and literature review. The subjects in this study are adolescents who identify themselves as otaku, consisting of the chairperson and members of the community. The results of this study show that the self-concept of otaku adolescents in the Jakarta Japan Lunatic Club community, using symbolic interactionism theory, tends to be positive with confidence and good interactions demonstrated by these adolescents. They can also explain their interest in otaku through three aspects: mind, self, and society. Factors that hinder the interaction of otaku students in the Jakarta Japan Lunatic Club community include negative stigma, lack of understanding related to pleasure or hobbies as otaku, differences in interests and preferences, and also excessive prejudice against otaku activities.
