Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan mata kuliah “Praktik Kerja Lapangan (PKL)” sebagai sarana pengembangan keterampilan lunak mahasiswa kependidikan. Selain itu, penelitian ini memaparkan tentang implikasi mata kuliah tersebut dalam membangun daya saing mahasiswa kependidikan di dunia industri. Pada penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan ialah pendekatan kualitatif berdasarkan hasil wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian ini ialah lima Koordinator Prodi Kependidikan di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Jakarta dan sepuluh mahasiswa pada prodi tersebut. Sementara, satu pakar di bidang pendidikan menjadi informan pendukung. Berdasarkan temuan dalam penelitian ini, mata kuliah PKL diimplementasikan melalui tiga tahap. Mulai dari tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Selain memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan teknis baru, pelaksanaan PKL ini dapat mengembangan keterampilan lunak mahasiswa, seperti keterampilan berpikir kritis dan pemecahan masalah, komunikasi, kolaborasi, dan tanggung jawab. Pengembangan keterampilan-keterampilan tersebut dilakukan secara implisit seiring rutinitas aktivitas kerja dan relasi sosial antara mahasiswa dengan lingkungan kerja. Inilah yang membuat PKL termasuk ke dalam pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman dan sarat akan hidden curriculum. Pada akhirnya, pelaksanaan PKL ini berimplikasi terhadap kemitraan antara industri dengan prodi kependidikan di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Jakarta dan meningkatkan keterserapan lulusan mahasiswa kependidikan di dunia industri. ***** This study aims to describe the implementation of the "Field Work Practice (PKL)" course as a means of developing soft skills for educational students. In addition, this study describes the implications of the course in building the competitiveness of educational students in the industrial world. In this research, the method used is a qualitative approach based on the results of interviews and documentation. The subjects of this study were five Coordinators of Education Study Programmes at the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta and ten students in the study programme. Meanwhile, one expert in the field of education became a supporting informant. Based on the findings in this study, the PKL course is implemented through three stages. Starting from the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. In addition to gaining new knowledge and technical skills, the implementation of PKL can develop students' soft skills, such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills, communication, collaboration, and responsibility. The development of these skills is carried out implicitly along with routine work activities and social relations between students and the work environment. This is what makes PKL included in experiential learning and full of hidden curriculum. In the end, the implementation of this PKL has implications for the partnership between industry and educational study programmes at the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta and increases the absorption of educational student graduates in the industrial world.
