Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan utama memberikan deskripsi mengenai bagaimana fitur pay later mempengaruhi budaya konsumtif bagi mahasiswa dan bagaimana budaya konsumtif tersebut dapat membentuk suatu masyarakat resiko. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 8 mahasiswa di Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Dalam pengumpulan data, penulis menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara. Sementara data sekunder diperoleh melalui studi literatur dan pustaka melalui internet yang berkait dengan penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh, budaya konsumtif identik dengan mahasiswa pada generasi ini. Dimana para mahasiswa yang sedang dalam masa transisi dalam dunia perkuliahan yang didukung dengan akses internet serta maraknya media sosial, menjadikan para mahasiswa tidak luput dari budaya konsumtif. Mereka yang baru memulai lingkungan pertemanan baru dipengaruhi oleh gaya hidup yang menuntut mereka untuk dapat mengikuti arus trend. Maka dari itu, sebagai mahasiswa yang belum mempunyai penghasilan, menggunakan fitur pay later adalah salah satu opsi yang dapat dimanfaatkan. Namun, penggunaan fitur pay later tanpa kontrol diri serta penghasilan yang seimbang akan menjadikan mahasiswa sebagai masyarakat yang beresiko. Dari fenomena tersebut, peneliti akan menggunakan sudut pandang masyarakat resiko dari Ulrich Beck ***** This research has the main objective of providing a description of how the pay later feature influences consumer culture for students and how this consumer culture can form a risk society. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. This research data was obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this research were 8 students at Jakarta State University. In collecting data, the author uses primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through observation and interviews. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained through literature and library studies via the internet related to this research. Based on the research results obtained, consumer culture is synonymous with students in this generation. Where students are currently in a transition period in the world of education which is supported by internet access and the rise of social media, students are not immune from consumer culture. Those who are just starting a new circle of friends are influenced by a lifestyle that requires them to be able to follow current trends. Therefore, as a student who does not have an income, using the pay later feature is one option that can be utilized. However, using the pay later feature without self-control and a balanced income will make students at risk. From this phenomenon, researchers will use Ulrich Beck's risk society perspective
