Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengdeskripsi bagaimana alur komunikasi dalam fenomena love scams yang terjadi dan bagaimana ketidakadilan gender yang dialami oleh perempuan dalam fenomena love scams tersebut. Selain itu, untuk mendeskripsikan keterkaitan fenomena love scams dan konsep gender ini dengan menggunakan teori konflik sosial dari Marx Engels. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tiga korban perempuan kejahatan love scams. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 3 bulan yakni dari bulan Oktober 2023 – Desember 2023. Subjek penelitian ini meliputi dari 3 korban perempuan kejahatan love scams yakni informan DM, informan L, informan NPW, dan informan NI sebagai Wakil Ketua Komunitas Relawan Siaga Cerdas – Waspada Scammer Cinta (RSC-WSC). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi terhadap kejahatan love scams yang terjadi di dunia maya maupun dunia nyata, selanjutnya melakukan wawancara mendalam dengan para informan kasus love scams, dan melakukan dokumentasi terhadap kasus love scams di Instagram. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kasus kejahatan love scams di Indonesia saat ini masih seringkali terjadi. Korban dari kasus ini didominasi oleh kaum perempuan, namun tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa laki-laki juga bisa terkena kejahatan love scams. Pada awal terjadinya love scams, pelaku melakukan pendekatan kepada calon korbannya setelah itu pelaku mulai menyusun strategi agar calon korban masuk ke dalam jebakan yang sudah dibuatnya. Setelah korban berhasil dimanipulasi, pelaku akan memberikan kata-kata romantis dan rayuan agar korban mau menuruti permintaan dari pelaku. Setelah pelaku mendapatkan apa yang diinginkannya, pelaku akan perlahan-lahan menghilang dan menghindari korban. Fenomena ini dapat terjadi karena adanya diferensiasi atau perbedaan kekuasaan yang menyebabkan sekelompok orang menindas kelompok lainnya. Dalam fenomena ini, perempuan mengalami ketidakadilan dan sering kali menjadi korban karena dianggap sebagai kaum yang lemah dan dapat ditipu daya oleh laki-laki. ***** This research aims to determine how the communication flow in the phenomenon that occurs and how gender inequality is experienced by women in the love scams phenomenon. In addition, to describe the relationship between the love scams phenomenon and the concept of gender using Marx Engels' social conflict theory. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. This study was conducted on three female victims of love scams. This study was conducted for 3 months, namely from October 2023 to December 2023. The subjects of this study included 3 female victims of love scams, namely informant DM, informant L, informant NPW, and informant NI as Deputy Chairperson of the Smart Alert Volunteer Community - Waspada Scammer Cinta (RSC-WSC). Data collection was carried out by observing love scams that occurred in cyberspace and the real world, then conducting in-depth interviews with informants in love scam cases, and documenting love scam cases on Instagram. The results of this study indicate that love scams in Indonesia are still common. The victims of this case are dominated by women, but it is undeniable that men can also be victims of love scams. At the beginning of the love scam, the perpetrator approaches the potential victim after which the perpetrator begins to develop a strategy so that the potential victim falls into the trap he has set. After the victim has been successfully manipulated, the perpetrator will give romantic words and seduction so that the victim will comply with the perpetrator's request. After the perpetrator gets what he wants, the perpetrator will slowly disappear and avoid the victim. This phenomenon can occur because of differentiation or differences in power that cause one group of people to oppress another group. In this phenomenon, women experience injustice and often become victims because they are considered weak and can be deceived by men.
