Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah terdapat hubungan antara kesadaran diri (self-awareness) dengan kemampuan perencanaan karier pada peserta didik kelas X SMK di Kabupaten Karawang. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 188 peserta didik dengan menggunakan teknik convinience sampling. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode survei dan jenis penelitian korelasi dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian, yaitu Self-Consciousness Scale (SCS-R) yang dikembangkan oleh Scheier dan Carver (1985) dan Career Planning Scale (CPS) yang dikembangkan oleh Gould (1979). Kedua instrumen tersebut telah diadaptasi oleh peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kesadaran diri (self-awareness) dengan kemampuan perencanaan karier peserta didik kelas X SMK di Kabupaten Karawang dengan nilai korelasi sebenear .407. Artinya semakin tinggi kesadaran diri (self-awareness), maka semakin tinggi kemampuan perencanaan karier peserta didik. Dengan demikian dapat guru Bimbingan dan Konseling dapat mengarahkan peserta didik untuk mengenali diri sehingga akan memudahkan peserta didik dalam menentukan arah kariernya. ***** This study aims to examine whether there is a relationship between self-awareness and career planning ability in class X vocational school students in Karawang Regency. The sample of this study was 188 students using convinience sampling technique. The study used a quantitative approach using survey method and correlation research type using research instruments, namely Self-Consciousness Scale (SCS-R) developed by Scheier and Carver (1985) and Career Planning Scale (CPS) developed by Gould (1979). Both instruments have been adapted by the researcher. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between self-awareness and career planning ability of X grade vocational school students in Karawang Regency with a correlation value of .407. This means that the higher the self-awareness, the higher the career planning ability of students. Thus, Guidance and Counseling teachers can direct students to recognize themselves so that it will make it easier for students to determine their career direction.
