Abstract

Sektor kriya mempunyai potensi yang besar di Indonesia. Menurut data dari Kementrian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Kemenparekraf), sektor kriya menyumbangkan PDB nasional sebesar Rp 166,13 triliun di tahun 2020. Berdasarkan data potensi kriya tersebut, perupa tertarik untuk mengenalkan motif ragam hias Melayu yang beragam dan unik melalui media tirai ikat celup kepada masyarakat luas. Penelitian Penciptaan ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan metode penelitian berbasis praktik (Practice-based Research) dengan pendekatan formalistik untuk menganalisis nilai estetik pada unsur-unsur visual karya tirai ikat celup Melayu. Proses kreatif ini diawali dengan proses magang selama dua minggu di studio milik seniman ikat celup bernama Caroline Rika Winata yang terletak di Bantul, DIY Yogyakarta. Karya tirai ikat celup ini dibuat pada kain linen dengan teknik ikat celup tritik. Zat pewarna yang digunakan dalam proses pembuatan karya adalah zat pewarna sintetis indigosol dengan teknik pewarnaan mencolet dengan kuas. Selama proses pembuatan karya tirai tugas akhir ini, bentuk motif ragam hias alam Melayu berhasil teraplikasikan dengan baik pada tirai ikat celup serta dapat menghadirkan suasana alam Melayu dengan baik. According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), the craft sector contributed IDR 166.13 trillion to the national GDP in 2020. Based on the craft potential data, artists are interested in introducing diverse and unique Malay decorative motifs through tie-dye curtains to the wider community. This Creation Research uses a descriptive qualitative research type and a practice-based research method with a formalistic approach to analyze the aesthetic value of the visual elements of Malay tie-dye curtain works. This creative process begins with a two-week internship at the studio of a tie-dye artist named Caroline Rika Winata located in Bantul, DIY Yogyakarta. This tie-dye curtain work is made on linen fabric using the tritik tie-dye technique. The dye used in the process of making the work is synthetic indigosol dye with a brush-dyeing technique. During the process of making this final project curtain, the Malay natural decorative motif was successfully applied well to the tie-dye curtain and was able to present the Malay natural atmosphere well.
