Abstract

***** Adolescents' difficulties in balancing social relationships with academic responsibilities have the potential to cause procrastination behavior. The desire to please others can create pressure to meet social expectations. This can have a negative impact on the process of fulfilling academic responsibilities and reduce academic achievement. The study aims to determine the effect of agreeableness on students' academic procrastination. The method in this study is quantitative associative and data collection was carried out in July-August 2024 at SMPN 17 Jakarta. The research sample was selected using the proportional stratified random sampling technique with a total of 192 respondents consisting of students in grades 7 and 8. The results of this study indicate that agreeableness is included in the moderate category and academic procrastination is included in the moderate category. The results of the regression test show that there is a significant effect between agreeableness and academic procrastination with a p-value = 0.000 <0.05. Then the results of the determination coefficient test produced were 21.3% of academic procrastination explained by agreeableness. This study shows that agreeableness has a negative effect (-0.634) and is significant on students' academic procrastination. Based on this, it can be interpreted that if the agreeableness possessed by students is higher, the lower the academic procrastination carried out by students.
