Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan bagi peserta didik hambatan intelektual ringan kelas VIII di SLBN 12 Jakarta melalui metode silabel berbantuan kartu suku kata dan gambar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode PTK (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart. Penelitian dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus dengan lima pertemuan setiap siklusnya. Subjek dalam penelitian ini merupakan tiga peserta didik dengan hambatan intelektual ringan kelas VIII SLBN 12 Jakarta yang telah memiliki kesadaran fonologis dan kesadaran persepsi visual. Dalam hal ini, peserta didik sudah mengenal huruf. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara tes lisan dan observasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan peserta didik melalui metode silabel yang didukung dengan kartu suku kata dan gambar. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya nilai kemampuan membaca peserta didik, diantaranya peserta didik A mengalami peningkatan nilai sebesar 45,9, M mengalami peningkatan nilai sebesar 50, dan N mengalami peningkatan nilai sebesar 54,2 setelah dilakukannya tindakan siklus I dan II. Metode silabel berbantuan kartu suku kata dan gambar membantu peserta didik untuk mengenal dan melafalkan suku kata dengan pola KVK (konsonan-vokal-konsonan) serta merangkai dan melafalkan kata berpola KVKVK (konsonan-vokal-konsonan-vokal-konsonan). /***** This study aims to improve early reading skills among students with mild intellectual disabilities in Grade VIII at SLBN 12 Jakarta through the syllabic method supported by syllable cards and pictures. The research employs Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model. The study was conducted over two cycles, with five meetings in each cycle. The subjects of this study were three students with mild intellectual disabilities in Grade VIII at SLBN 12 Jakarta who had developed phonological awareness and visual perception awareness. In this case, the students were already familiar with letters. Data collection was carried out through oral tests and observations, while data analysis was conducted qualitatively and quantitatively. The results indicate an improvement in students' early reading skills through the syllabic method supported by syllable cards and pictures. This is evidenced by the increase in students' reading ability scores, where Student A showed an improvement of 45.9 points, Student M improved by 50 points, and Student N improved by 54.2 points after implementing cycles I and II. The syllabic method, supported by syllable cards and pictures, helped students recognize and pronounce syllables with the CVC (consonant-vocal-consonant) pattern, as well as construct and pronounce words with the CVCVC (consonant-vocal-consonant-vocal-consonant) pattern.
