Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan model Learning Cycle terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan rancangan Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. Dalam desain ini terdapat dua kelas yang dijadikan sampel, yaitu kelas X-3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X-4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil pemerolehan data terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan dengan model Learning Cycle. Rentang nilai tes awal menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa kelas eksperimen berada pada nilai tertinggi 86 dengan nilai rata- rata sebesar 62. Rentang nilai tes akhir menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa eksperimen tertinggi berada pada 95 dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 83. Selisih rata-rata antara nilai tes awal dan tes akhir adalah sebesar 21. Pemerolehan data di kelas eksperimen bahwa hasil pengujian hipotesis pada taraf signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0,001 yang lebih kecil dari α = 0,05 (0,001 < 0,05), sehingga H0 ditolak pada α = 0,05. Dengan demikian, bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pada penggunaan model Learning Cycle terhadap keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi pada siswa kelas X SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. Kata Kunci: Learning Cycle, keterampilan menulis, teks eksposisi / This study aims to determine the effect of the use of the Learning Cycle model on exposition text writing skills in grade X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative method. The research method used in this study is an experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this study is class X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. In this design, there are two classes that are used as samples, namely class X-3 as an experimental class and class X-4 as a control class. The results of data acquisition showed significant differences between before and after treatment with the Learning Cycle model. The range of the initial test score for writing exposition texts in the experimental class students was at the highest score of 86 with an average score of 62. The range of final test scores for writing exposition texts in experimental students was the highest at 95 with an average score of 83. The average difference between the initial test score and the final test is 21. Data acquisition in the experimental class showed that the results of hypothesis testing were at a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.001 which was smaller than α = 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05), so that H0 was rejected at α = 0.05. Thus, there is a significant influence on the use of the Learning Cycle model on the exposition text writing skills in grade X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta.
