Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan peserta didik pada materi sistem pengolahan makanan fungsional di SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-eksperimen dalam bentuk nonequivalent control group. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes yang terdiri dari 20 soal pilihan ganda. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan rerata nilai kelas eksperimen sebesar 61,57 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 64,29. Setelah penerapan model PBL, rerata nilai post-test kelas eksperimen meningkat menjadi 84,86, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol sebesar 73,14. Perhitungan N-Gain Score menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 59,74% pada kelas eksperimen dengan kategori sedang, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol sebesar 23,98% dengan kategori rendah. Dengan demikian, penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat dinyatakan cukup efektif sebesar 59,74% dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta didik dan dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran yang relevan untuk mendorong peningkatan pengetahuan, keterlibatan aktif peserta didik, serta kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam memecahkan masalah yang berkaitan dengan sistem pengolahan makanan fungsional. ***** This study aims to analyze the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on improving students' knowledge in the subject of functional food processing systems at SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang. This research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group format. The research sample consisted of an experimental class and a control class selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions. The pre-test results showed that the average score of the experimental class was 61.57, while the control class scored 64.29. After the implementation of the PBL model, the average post-test score in the experimental class increased to 84.86, while the control class reached 73.14. The N-Gain Score calculation showed an improvement of 59.74% in the experimental class (categorized as moderate), while the control class showed an improvement of 23.98% (categorized as low). Therefore, the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be considered moderately effective, as indicated by an N-Gain Score of 59.74%, in enhancing students’ knowledge. It can also serve as a relevant alternative learning model to encourage increased knowledge, active student engagement, and critical thinking skills in solving problems related to the topic of functional food processing systems.
