Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti persepsi mahasiswa Mahasiswa Gen Z Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Hukum UNJ angkatan 2021 terhadap peran Generasi Sandwich. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui pengisian kuesioner, wawancara, studi literatur dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 3 aspek persepsi mahasiswa terhadap Generasi Sandwich, yaitu persepsi kognitif, persepsi afektif dan persepsi konatif. Pesepsi kognitif menunjukkan pengetahuan dan peran yang dimainkan Generasi Sandwich, informasi ini didapatkan dari media sosial dan lingkungan sekitar. Persepsi afektif menunjuukan reaksi cemas, khawatir dan takut saat mahasiswa membayangkan akan memainkan peran sebagai Generasi Sandwich. Persepsi Konatif menunjuukan tindakan yang dilakukan mahasiwa yaitu dengan literasi keuangan dan strategi manajemen waktu. Selain itu terdapat 3 alasan mahasiswa merasa cemas akan peran Generasi Sandwich. Hal ini disebabkan oleh beban finansial yaitu menanggung kebutuhan keluarga, beban emosional dan kesehatan berupa perasaan cemas, khawatir dan lelah akan tanggung jawab keluarga dan peran ganda. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya literasi keuangan dan strategi manajemen diri untuk menghadapi ketidakpastian masa depan. ***** This study aims to examine the perceptions of Generation Z students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at UNJ, class of 2021, regarding the role of the sandwich generation. The research method used is descriptive with a quantitative approach, employing questionnaires, interviews, literature review, and documentation. The results of the study show that there are three aspects of students' perceptions of the sandwich generation: cognitive, affective, and conative perceptions. Cognitive perception reveals students’ knowledge about the roles played by the sandwich generation, which is mostly obtained from social media and their surrounding environment. Affective perception shows feelings of anxiety, worry, and fear when students imagine taking on the role of the sandwich generation. Conative perception refers to the actions taken by students, such as financial literacy and time management strategies. In addition, there are three reasons why students feel anxious about the sandwich generation role. These include financial burdens—supporting family needs, emotional and health burdens—such as feelings of anxiety, worry, and exhaustion due to family responsibilities, and the challenge of juggling multiple roles. These findings highlight the importance of financial literacy and self-management strategies in facing an uncertain future.
