Abstract
Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen Joy of Missing Out Scale (JoMOS) yang diadopsi peneliti berdasarkan teori Barry dkk. (2023) dan instrumen The Modfied BBC Subjective Well Being (BBC-SWB) oleh Pontin dkk. (2011). Kata Kunci: joy of missing out, subjective well being, mahasiswa pengguna tiktok di perguruan tinggi Jakarta.**** This study aims to examine the influence of joy of missing out (JOMO) on subjective well-being (SWB) among final-year university students. The research employed a quantitative method using a simple linear regression analysis model. Data collection was conducted using the Joy of Missing Out Scale (JoMOS), adapted by the researcher based on the theory of Barry et al. (2023), and the Modified BBC Subjective Well-Being (BBC-SWB) Scale by Pontin et al. (2011). A non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to recruit participants who met the criteria: TikTok users aged 18–22 years and residing in Jakarta. The data were obtained from 164 TikTok-using students enrolled in Jakarta-based universities. The results indicate that joy of missing out has a significant and positive influence on the subjective well-being of these students, accounting for 39.5% of the variance. This research is expected to help students recognize the importance of valuing joy of missing out as a means of enhancing well-being, especially amid the prevalent phenomenon of fear of missing out (FoMO). Keywords: joy of missing out, subjective well-being, TikTok-using university students in Jakarta.
