Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dan memahami pengalaman guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dalam mengadaptasi model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) di SMK Negeri 26 Jakarta. Latar belakang penelitian ini muncul dari kebutuhan pembelajaran PAI yang lebih aktif, kontekstual, dan mampu mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, terutama di lingkungan SMK yang memiliki karakteristik peserta didik cenderung praktis dan vokasional. Model PBL dinilai relevan karena mendorong siswa untuk belajar melalui pemecahan masalah yang dekat dengan kehidupan mereka. Namun, dalam pelaksanaannya, guru menghadapi berbagai kendala seperti keterbatasan waktu, dinamika kelas yang tidak kondusif, serta kesiapan siswa yang belum merata. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, serta dianalisis berdasarkan teori pengalaman John Dewey dan pendekatan fenomenologi Max van Manen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru melakukan berbagai penyesuaian terhadap tahapan PBL, seperti memilih topik masalah yang relevan dengan kehidupan siswa, membimbing diskusi bernuansa keagamaan, serta memanfaatkan media digital untuk mengatasi keterbatasan waktu. Strategi yang digunakan guru tidak hanya bersifat teknis, tetapi juga dilandasi oleh refleksi pedagogis yang kuat. Penerapan PBL dalam pembelajaran PAI terbukti membantu siswa memahami materi secara lebih kontekstual dan bermakna. Siswa merasa lebih tertarik karena dilibatkan dalam proses berpikir, berdialog, dan menyusun solusi berdasarkan nilai-nilai Islam. Keberhasilan model ini sangat bergantung pada fleksibilitas, kreativitas, dan kesadaran reflektif guru dalam menghadapi tantangan kelas secara nyata. ***** This study aims to describe and understand the experiences of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in adapting the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model at SMK Negeri 26 Jakarta. The background of this study arose from the need for more active, contextual PAI learning that is able to develop students' critical thinking skills, especially in a vocational high school environment where students tend to be practical and vocational. The PBL model is considered relevant because it encourages students to learn through solving problems close to their lives. However, in its implementation, teachers face various obstacles such as time constraints, unfavorable classroom dynamics, and uneven student readiness. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed based on John Dewey's theory of experience and Max van Manen's phenomenological approach. The results showed that teachers made various adjustments to the PBL stages, such as selecting problem topics relevant to students' lives, guiding religious discussions, and utilizing digital media to overcome time constraints. The strategies used by teachers were not only technical but also based on strong pedagogical reflection. The application of PBL in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning has been proven to help students understand the material in a more contextual and meaningful way. Students feel more engaged because they are involved in the process of thinking, engaging in dialogue, and developing solutions based on Islamic values. The success of this model depends heavily on the flexibility, creativity, and reflective awareness of teachers in addressing real- life classroom challenges.
