Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan stigma yang diterima penari tradisional laki-laki di Sanggar Swargaloka dan strategi yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi stigma terhadap identitas maskulinitas, serta mendeskripsikan bekerjanya hegemonik maskulinitas dalam perspektif R.W. Connell pada penari tradisional laki-laki. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Januari hingga Juni 2025 di Sanggar Swargaloka menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam terkait dengan subjek informan sebanyak tujuh penari tradisional laki-laki dan studi literatur. Validitas data diperkuat melalui triangulasi dengan melibatkan pihak Dinas Kebudayaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stigma yang didapatkan oleh penari tradisional laki-laki di Sanggar Swargaloka berasal dari lingkungan keluarga dan sekolah. Mereka menghadapi berbagai bentuk stigma baik secara verbal maupun kultural, seperti terkait anggapan tidak maskulin dan tekanan sosial dari lingkungan sekitar. Melalui dukungan Sanggar Swargaloka, mereka dapat tetap menyalurkan minat dan bakat, serta sebagai ruang bagi seni tari dan suportif untuk mengekspesikan diri tanpa tekanan. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa penari tradisional laki-laki di Sanggar Swargaloka terus mempertahankan identitas maskulinitas mereka. Analisis melalui teori R.W.Connell, menunjukkan bahwa hegemonik maskulinitas bekerja melalui sistem nilai yang menekan ekspresi gender di luar norma dominan. Kata Kunci: Stigma, Identitas Makulinitas, Penari Tradisional Laki-Laki, Hegemonik Maskulinitas ***** This study aims to describe the stigma received by male traditional dancers in Sanggar Swargaloka and the strategies used to overcome the stigma against masculinity identity, as well as to describe the operation of hegemonic masculinity in R.W. Connell's perspective on male traditional dancers. The research was conducted from January to June 2025 at Sanggar Swargaloka using a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Data collection techniques were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews related to the subject informants as many as seven male traditional dancers and literature studies. Data validity was strengthened through triangulation by involving the Cultural Office. The results showed that the stigma obtained by male traditional dancers in Sanggar Swargaloka comes from the family and school environment. They face various forms of stigma both verbally and culturally, such as related to the assumption of not being masculine and social pressure from the surrounding environment. Through the support of Sanggar Swargaloka, they can continue to channel their interests and talents, as well as a space for dance and support to express themselves without pressure. This research shows that male traditional dancers in Sanggar Swargaloka continue to maintain their masculine identity. Analysis through R.W.Connell's theory, shows that hegemonic masculinity works through a value system that suppresses gender expression outside the dominant norm.
