Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan media busy board untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa hambatan intelektual ringan kelas I di SLB C Budi Daya Jakarta Timur. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasari oleh rendahnya kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa, seperti kesulitan dalam menggenggam pensil, menebalkan pola, dan kurangnya ketertarikan terhadap kegiatan menulis. Media busy board dipilih karena memiliki beberapa komponen yang dapat menstimulasi motorik halus siswa secara menyenangkan, seperti resleting, maze alur, tying shoes, dan keran air. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model spiral dari Kemmis dan McTaggart. Terdapat tiga tahapan yaitu, perencanaan, tindakan dan observasi, serta refleksi. Terdapat subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga siswa hambatan intelektual ringan kelas I. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik pngumpulan data kuantitatif yang terdiri dari teknik observasi, tes tulis dan dokumentasi. Untuk teknik keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami peningkatan nilai kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa dari rata-rata nilai awal sebesar 40, menjadi 65 pada siklus I, dan meningkat menjadi 90 pada siklus II. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa media busy board dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis permulaan siswa hambatan intelektual ringan. Media ini membantu siswa lebih fokus, aktif, dan termotivasi dalam mengikuti kegiatan belajar. ***** This study uses busy board media to improve the early writing skills of first-grade students with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB C Budi Daya, East Jakarta. The background of this research is based on the low early writing ability of students, such as difficulties in holding pencils, tracing patterns, and lack of interest in writing activities. Busy board media was chosen because it contains several components that can stimulate students’ fine motor skills in an engaging way, such as zippers, mazes, tying shoes, and water faucets. This research employs Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the spiral model of Kemmis and McTaggart. There are three stages: planning, action and observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were three first-grade students with mild intellectual disabilities. Data collection techniques used were quantitative methods consisting of observation, written tests, and documentation. Data validity was ensured using triangulation techniques. The results of the study showed that students’ early writing ability scores improved from an initial average score of 40, to 65 in the first cycle, and increased further to 90 in the second cycle. From these results, it can be concluded that busy board media can improve the early writing skills of students with mild intellectual disabilities. This media helps students become more focused, active, and motivated in participating in learning activities.
