Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kuantitatif eksperimen yang melibatkan dua kelas, yaitu sebagai kelas eksperimen dan sebagai kelas kontrol yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media pop-up book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa kelas I sekolah dasar. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas I SDN Duren Jaya VI dan siswa kelas I SDN Duren Jaya VII. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah nonequivalent control group design, yang berarti terdapat dua kelompok yang akan dibandingkan, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol (kelas pembanding). Sampel penelitian yang didapat dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas I sebanyakan 125 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan membaca permulaan yang diberikan kepada siswa pada awal pertemuan dan akhir pertemuan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes berupa 9 soal teks bacaan yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Instrumen tersebut juga diuji normalitas dan homogenitas dengan uji persyaratan data. Selanjutnya, dilakukan analisis hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dengan taraf signifikasi α = 0,05, diperoleh nilai sig. sebesar < 0,000. Karena nilai signifikasi < taraf signifikasi α = 0,05 maka H_0 ditolak dan H_1 diterima, yang berarti bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media pop-up book terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I sekolah dasar. Oleh karena itu, guru perlu memilih media pembelajaran yang tepat untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa. ***** This research is a quantitative experimental study involving two classes, namely an experimental class and a control class, which aims to determine the effect of using pop-up books on early reading skills in 1st grade elementary school students. The sample in this study consisted of 1st grade students at SDN Duren Jaya VI and 1st grade students at SDN Duren Jaya VII. The research design used was a nonequivalent control group design, which means that there were two groups to be compared, namely the experimental class and the control class (comparison class). The sample obtained in this study consisted of 125 1st grade students. The data collection technique used was a preliminary reading ability test given to students at the beginning and end of the meeting. Data collection was carried out using a test instrument consisting of 9 reading comprehension questions that had been tested for validity and reliability. The instrument was also tested for normality and homogeneity using data requirements tests. Next, hypothesis analysis was conducted using a t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05, yielding a sig. value of < 0.000. Because the significance value was < the significance level of α = 0.05, H_0 was rejected and H_1 was accepted, which means that there was an effect of the use of pop-up books on the early reading skills of 1st grade elementary school students. Therefore, teachers need to choose the right learning media to improve students' early reading skills.
