Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses aktualisasi diri tokoh Divas dalam novel Serangkai karya Valerie Patkar menggunakan teori struktural Robert Stanton dan hierarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis data berupa analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan alur campuran berfungsi sebagai instrumen naratif untuk mengungkap kausalitas trauma masa lalu yang memengaruhi dinamika psikologis tokoh di masa kini. Analisis hierarki kebutuhan menunjukkan bahwa pemenuhan kebutuhan tokoh berlangsung secara fluktuatif dan tidak linear, di mana ketidakstabilan pada level fisiologis bermanifestasi dalam bentuk reaksi somatik. Aktualisasi diri tokoh terwujud secara nyata melalui transformasi orientasi hidup, yang meliputi perbaikan relasi sosial, pembentukan kelekatan baru yang sehat, serta penerapan etika profesi medis yang lebih empatik. Simpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa aktualisasi diri merupakan proses dinamis untuk menerima ketidaksempurnaan, di mana individu dipandang sebagai subjek yang mampu memberikan makna atas penderitaannya sejalan dengan prinsip psikologi humanistik. Kata Kunci: Serangkai, Aktualisasi Diri, Abraham Maslow, Fakta Cerita, Psikologi Humanistik*****This research aims to describe the self-actualization process of the character Divas in Valerie Patkar's novel Serangkai, utilizing Robert Stanton’s structural theory and Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The research method employed is qualitative descriptive with content analysis as the data analysis technique. The results indicate that the use of a mixed plot serves as a narrative instrument to reveal the causality of past trauma that influences the character’s current psychological dynamics. The analysis of the hierarchy of needs shows that the fulfillment of the character’s needs is fluctuating and non-linear, where instability at the physiological level manifests as somatic reactions. The character’s self-actualization is concretely realized through a transformation in life orientation, encompassing the improvement of social relations, the formation of new healthy attachments, and the implementation of a more empathetic medical professional ethics. The study concludes that self-actualization is a dynamic process of accepting imperfection, wherein the individual is viewed as a subject capable of attributing meaning to their suffering, in alignment with the principles of humanistic psychology.
