Abstract
Penguasaan kosakata (itqan al-mufradat) merupakan aspek fundamental dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab karena menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan keterampilan berbahasa lainnya. Namun, penguasaan kosakata siswa yang masih terbatas berdampak pada rendahnya keaktifan dan kepercayaan diri siswa dalam menerapkan bahasa Arab secara lisan. Kondisi ini dipengaruhi oleh penerapan metode pembelajaran yang belum mampu membangun pembiasaan dan latihan kosakata secara berkelanjutan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan metode pembelajaran yang mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa serta memberikan latihan kosakata secara terstruktur dan berulang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Arab siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta melalui penerapan metode Talking Stick dan Drill. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 26 siswa kelas VII-C di SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi tes (pre-test dan post-test), observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Talking Stick dan Drill mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Arab siswa secara signifikan. Ketuntasan belajar klasikal pada tahap pre-test sebesar 38,46%, meningkat pada post-test di Siklus I menjadi 73,08%, dan meningkat pada post-test di Siklus II hingga mencapai 96,15%. Pada Siklus II, ketuntasan belajar klasikal telah melampaui indikator keberhasilan yang ditetapkan, yaitu ≥75% siswa mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) sebesar 70. Selain itu, aktivitas siswa dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran oleh guru juga menunjukkan peningkatan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Talking Stick dan Drill efektif diterapkan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Arab siswa kelas VII di SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta.Kata kunci: Penguasaan Kosakata, Talking Stick, Drill. ***** Vocabulary mastery (itqan al-mufradat) is a fundamental aspect in Arabic language learning because it forms the basis for the development of other language skills. However, students' limited vocabulary mastery has an impact on their low activity and confidence in using Arabic orally. This condition is influenced by the application of learning methods that have not been able to build continuous vocabulary habits and practice. Therefore, a learning method is needed that encourages active student involvement and provides structured and repetitive vocabulary practice. This study aims to improve the Arabic vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta through the application of the Talking Stick and Drill methods. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which is carried out in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 26 seventh-grade students of class VII-C at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta. Data collection techniques included tests (pre-test and post-test), observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Talking Stick and Drill methods can significantly improve students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary. Classical learning completeness at the pre-test stage was 38.46%, increasing to 73.08% at the post-test in Cycle I, and increasing further to 96.15% at the post-test in Cycle II. In Cycle II, classical learning completeness exceeded the predetermined success indicator, namely ≥75% of students achieving the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) of 70. In addition, student activity and the implementation of learning by teachers also showed an increase. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Talking Stick and Drill Methods are effective in improving the Arabic vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Jakarta.
