Abstract

Pembelajaran membaca notasi musik merupakan kompetensi dasar yang sangat penting dalam menunjang kualitas permainan ansambel, khususnya pada kelompok musik tiup seperti Bhayangkara Wind Okestra (BWO) Subbagian Musik Yanma Polri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran membaca notasi musik di Bhayangkara Wind Orkestra. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara dengan pelatih dan anggota orkestra, observasi partisipatif selama proses latihan, serta dokumentasi pendukung yang berkaitan dengan kegiatan pembelajaran musik. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan metode analisis tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola, tema, dan makna yang muncul dari proses pembelajaran membaca notasi musik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran membaca notasi musik di Bhayangkara Wind Orkestra dilaksanakan secara sistematis melalui tiga tahapan utama, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Proses pembelajaran didukung oleh struktur organisasi yang jelas, dengan peran Kepala Unit Musik Umum, pelatih atau arranger, konduktor, serta evaluator. Pembelajaran dilakukan tiga kali pertemuan berturut-turut sebelum pementasan, dengan penerapan metode drill, ceramah, demonstrasi, dan tanya jawab yang menekankan praktik langsung. Penelitian ini menemukan beberapa kendala, antara lain jadwal latihan yang belum rutin, perbedaan tingkat kemampuan membaca notasi musik antar anggota, keterbatasan bahan ajar yang sistematis, serta tantangan dalam sinkronisasi, ritme, dan ekspresi musikal. ***** Learning to read music notation is a fundamental competency crucial for the quality of ensemble performance, particularly in wind groups such as the Bhayangkara Wind Orchestra (BWO) of the Music Subdivision of the Indonesian National Police's Yanma (Indonesian National Police). This study aims to describe the process of learning to read music notation in the Bhayangkara Wind Orchestra. This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques included interviews with coaches and orchestra members, participant observation during rehearsals, and supporting documentation related to music learning activities. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns, themes, and meanings emerging from the learning process of reading music notation. The results indicate that learning to read music notation in the Bhayangkara Wind Orchestra is carried out systematically through three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The learning process is supported by a clear organizational structure, with the roles of the Head of the General Music Unit, coach or arranger, conductor, and evaluator. Learning takes place in three consecutive meetings prior to the performance, employing drills, lectures, demonstrations, and question-and-answer sessions, emphasizing hands-on practice. This research found several obstacles, including an irregular practice schedule, differences in the level of ability to read musical notation between members, limited systematic teaching materials, and challenges in synchronization, rhythm, and musical expression.
