Abstract
Penciptaan karya seni rupa ini dilatarbelakangi oleh minimnya pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai tiga bunga nasional Indonesia, yaitu Melati Putih (Jasminum sambac), Anggrek Bulan (Phalaenopsis amabilis), dan Padma Raksasa (Rafflesia arnoldii) yang ditetapkan melalui Keputusan Presiden Nomor 4 Tahun 1993. Tujuan utama penciptaan adalah menghadirkan motif bunga nasional Indonesia sebagai elemen dekoratif pada bingkai cermin dengan teknik punch needle yang bernilai estetis, fungsional, dan edukatif, sehingga dapat meningkatkan apresiasi terhadap bunga nasional Indonesia dalam bentuk karya kriya tekstil yang fungsional dan dapat digunakan sehari-hari, sekaligus memperkenalkan teknik punch needle kepada masyarakat. Kajian teori yang digunakan meliputi kriya tekstil; teknik punch needle; bunga nasional Indonesia yaitu Melati Putih (Jasminum sambac), Anggrek Bulan (Phalaenopsis amabilis), dan Padma Raksasa (Rafflesia arnoldii); dan bingkai cermin. Metode penciptaan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis riset practice-led research. Data diperoleh melalui studi literatur, diskusi dengan narasumber magang, wawancara dengan narasumber materi tentang cermin, serta kuesioner dan validasi kelayakan kepada calon pengguna perempuan berusia 21 - 30 tahun. Tahap awal penciptaan dilakukan melalui studi pendahuluan berupa observasi tren produk sejenis, segmentasi pasar, serta analisis kekuatan dan kelemahan produk pesaing. Selanjutnya dilakukan eksplorasi terhadap bahan kain, benang, teknik punch needle, serta bentuk daun dan bunga nasional Indonesia. Hasil akhir diwujudkan dalam tiga karya eksplorasi jadi dan tiga karya jadi skripsi berupa bingkai cermin dengan teknik punch needle bermotif Anggrek Bulan, Melati Putih, dan Padma Raksasa. Setiap karya menampilkan visual yang sesuai dengan karakter bentuk dan warna asli bunga nasional, dipadukan dengan elemen batang dan daun. Melalui karya ini diharapkan masyarakat tidak hanya mengenal teknik punch needle, tetapi juga semakin memahami serta mengapresiasi bunga nasional Indonesia dalam bentuk karya kriya tekstil yang fungsional dan dapat digunakan sehari-hari. ***** The creation of this visual art piece is motivated by the public's limited knowledge about Indonesia's three national flowers, namely White Jasmine (Jasminum sambac), Moon Orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis), and Giant Padma (Rafflesia arnoldii), which were designated through Presidential Decree No. 4 of 1993. The main purpose of the creation is to present motifs of Indonesia's national flowers as decorative elements on mirror frames using punch needle techniques, which are aesthetically, functionally, and educationally valuable. This aims to increase appreciation for Indonesia's national flowers in the form of functional textile crafts that can be used daily, while also introducing the punch needle technique to the community. The theoretical study used includes textile crafts; punch needle techniques; Indonesia's national flowers, namely White Jasmine (Jasminum sambac), Moon Orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis), and Giant Padma (Rafflesia arnoldii); and mirror frames. The creation method uses a qualitative approach with a practice-led research type. Data was obtained through literature studies, discussions with internship informants, interviews with material informants about mirrors, as well as questionnaires and feasibility validation with prospective female users aged 21 - 30 years. The initial stage of creation was carried out through preliminary studies in the form of observing trends in similar products, market segmentation, and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of competing products. Next, exploration was conducted on fabric materials, threads, punch needle techniques, as well as the shapes of leaves and flowers native to Indonesia. The final result is manifested in three exploratory works and three completed theses in the form of mirror frames using the punch needle technique, featuring the motifs of Moon Orchid, White Jasmine, and Giant Padma. Each work presents visuals that correspond to the character of the original shape and color of the national flowers, combined with stem and leaf elements. Through this work, it is hoped that the public will not only become familiar with the punch needle technique but also develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for Indonesia's national flowers in the form of functional textile craftworks that can be used daily.
