Abstract

Anggrek hitam Kalimantan (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl) merupakan flora endemik daerah khatulistiwa dengan iklim tropis. Kelangkaan spesies anggrek hitam dari Kalimantan yang habitat aslinya terancam oleh pembangunan dan kerusakan lingkungan. Ditambah periode berbunga yang relatif pendek (cepat layu), tanaman Anggrek hitam Kalimantan (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl) juga sulit untuk diperbanyak dengan teknik konvensional seperti stek batang dan penggunaan anakan yang berada di pembelahan rumpun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan research-led practice, di mana proses penciptaan karya didasarkan pada hasil penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan narasumber magang yang relevan dengan bidang desain dan tekstil bernama Fenny Saptalia. Pengguna dimintakan juga memilih alternatif desain. Proses eksplorasi juga dilakukan, seperti eksplorasi bahan, dan eksplorasi printing warna kain. Hal ini dilakukan sebagai langkah uji coba sebelum mencetak desain final yang nantinya akan diaplikasikan secara permanen pada kain. Tahap proses eksplorasi printing warna kain, menggunakan desain yang masih belum final guna memastikan warna yang dihasilkan sesuai dengan ekspektasi. Hal ini bertujuan untuk menguji hasil pewarnaan pada material kain, melihat tingkat ketepatan warna, kualitas cetak, dan penyesuaian teknis agar tidak terjadi kesalahan saat produksi massal. Hasil penelitian ini berupa produk vest wanita dengan motif anggrek hitam Kalimantan (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl) yang diaplikasikan menggunakan teknik digital printing, serta mengintegrasikan nilai budaya Dayak Kalimantan baik secara konseptual maupun visual. Secara visual dengan memadukan ukiran khas tanaman pakis Dayak Kalimantan Timur. Kata kunci : Motif, Anggrek Hitam Kalimantan, Vest Wanita, Digital Printing, Ukiran Khas Tanaman Pakis Dayak Kalimantan Timur. ************* The Kalimantan black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl) is an endemic flora of the equatorial region characterized by a tropical climate. The rarity of this species is due to the threat to its natural habitat caused by development and environmental degradation. In addition, its relatively short blooming period (as the flowers wither quickly) and the difficulty of propagating the Kalimantan black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl) through conventional methods such as stem cuttings and the use of offshoots obtained from clump division further limit its availability. This study employs a qualitative research method with a research-led practice approach, in which the process of creating the artwork is based on research findings. Data were collected through observation and interviews with an internship informant in the fields of design and textiles, namely Fenny Saptalia. Users were also asked to select preferred alternative design options. The creative process involved several stages of exploration, including material exploration and fabric color printing experimentation. These stages were conducted as trial steps prior to printing the final design, which would later be permanently applied to the fabric. During the fabric color printing exploration stage, non-final design drafts were used to ensure that the resulting colors met expectations. This stage aimed to test the coloring results on the fabric material, evaluate color accuracy and print quality, and make technical adjustments to prevent errors during mass production. The result of this study is a women’s vest featuring the Kalimantan black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl) motif applied using digital printing techniques, integrating the cultural values of the Dayak people of Kalimantan both conceptually and visually. Visually, this integration is achieved by combining the orchid motif with traditional fern carvings characteristic of the Dayak culture of East Kalimantan.
