Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dalam materi meneladani peran ulama penyebar ajaran islam di indonesia yang masih cenderung disampaikan melalui metode ceramah. Kondisi ini menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif dalam menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan menyajikan argumen secara logis. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh metode debat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas X. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis eksperimen semu dan desain eksperimental nonequivalent control group. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 40 siswa, terdiri dari 20 siswa kelas X-6 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan 20 siswa kelas X-5 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test berupa soal uraian yang disusun berdasarkan indikator berpikir kritis menurut Facione, serta lembar observasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji N-Gain untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Selanjutnya, uji paired sample t-test digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan skor pre-test dan post-test dalam masing-masing kelas, sedangkan uji independent sample t-test digunakan untuk menguji perbedaan rata-rata antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis yang lebih tinggi di kelas eksperimen dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Skor rata-rata post-test kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil uji independent sample t-test pada taraf signifikansi 0,000 diperoleh nilai signifikansi (p < 0,05), sehingga terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelas. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode debat berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi Meneladani Peran Ulama Penyebar Ajaran Islam di Indonesia. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode debat memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam materi Meneladani Peran Ulama Penyebar Ajaran Islam di Indonesia Kelas X di SMA Negeri 30 Jakarta. ***** This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) lessons, particularly those emulating the role of Islamic scholars in spreading Islamic teachings in Indonesia, which are still often delivered through lectures. This condition results in students being less active in analyzing, evaluating, and presenting arguments logically. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of the debate method on improving the critical thinking skills of tenth-grade students. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample size was 40 students, consisting of 20 students from grades X-6 as the experimental class and 20 students from grades X-5 as the control class. Data collection techniques included pre-tests and post-tests in the form of essay questions structured based on critical thinking indicators according to Facione, as well as observation sheets. Data analysis was conducted using the N-Gain test to determine improvements in students' critical thinking skills. Furthermore, a paired sample t-test was used to determine differences in pre-test and post-test scores within each class, while an independent sample t-test was used to examine the difference in mean scores between the experimental and control classes. The results of the study showed that there was a higher increase in critical thinking skills in the experimental class compared to the control class. The average post-test score of the experimental class was higher than the control class. Based on the results of the independent sample t-test at a significance level of 0.000, a significance value (p <0.05) was obtained, so there was a significant difference between the two classes. Thus, it can be concluded that the debate method has a significant effect on students' critical thinking skills in the material Emulating the Role of Islamic Scholars in Spreading Islamic Teachings in Indonesia. Thus, it can be concluded that the debate method has a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills in the material Emulating the Role of Islamic Scholars in Spreading Islamic Teachings in Indonesia for Class X at SMA Negeri 30 Jakarta.
