Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kegiatan ekstrakurikuler Karya Ilmiah Remaja (KIR) di SMA Negeri 38 Jakarta dengan menggunakan model evaluasi Countenance Stake yang mencakup aspek antecedent (konteks), transaction (proses), dan outcomes (hasil). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode evaluatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi dengan melibatkan kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, pembina, pelatih, pengurus, serta alumni KIR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada aspek antecedent, kegiatan KIR didukung oleh tingginya minat peserta didik, adanya kebijakan sekolah yang mendukung, serta ketersediaan pembina dan pelatih yang kompeten. Namun demikian, masih terdapat keterbatasan dalam penyediaan dokumen pedoman sebagai acuan pelaksanaan kegiatan. Pada aspek transaction, pelaksanaan kegiatan KIR berlangsung secara dinamis, fleksibel, dan dengan proses pembinaan yang intensif melalui kegiatan penelitian, diskusi, dan persiapan lomba. Meskipun demikian, pelaksanaan kegiatan masih memerlukan penguatan, khususnya pada keberlanjutan output penelitian, kelengkapan fasilitas, serta sistem monitoring dan evaluasi yang lebih terstruktur dan terdokumentasi. Pada aspek outcomes, kegiatan KIR menunjukkan hasil yang sangat baik ditandai dengan berbagai prestasi di tingkat nasional dan internasional serta berkembangnya kemampuan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan penelitian peserta didik. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ekstrakurikuler KIR di SMA Negeri 38 Jakarta telah berjalan dengan baik dan efektif dalam menghasilkan prestasi, tetapi masih memerlukan peningkatan pada aspek pemerataan pembinaan dan optimalisasi proses agar manfaatnya dapat berkelanjutan dan dirasakan tidak hanya peserta didik tetapi khalayak luas. ***** This research aims to evaluate the Youth Scientific Research (KIR) extracurricular activities at State Senior High School 38 Jakarta using the Countenance Stake evaluation model, which covers the aspects of antecedent (context), transaction (process), and outcomes (results). This study employs a qualitative approach using an evaluative method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the principal, vice principal, advisors, coaches, committee members, and KIR alumni. The results indicate that in the antecedent aspect, the KIR program is supported by high student interest, supportive school policies, and the availability of competent advisors and coaches. However, there are still limitations in the provision of guideline documents as a reference for implementing the activities. In the transaction aspect, the implementation of KIR activities proceeds dynamically, flexibly, and with an intensive mentoring process through research activities, discussions, and competition preparation. Nevertheless, the implementation of these activities still requires improvement, particularly regarding the sustainability of research outputs, the adequacy of facilities, and a more structured and documented monitoring and evaluation system. In terms of outcomes, the KIR activities have yielded excellent results, marked by various achievements at the national and international levels, as well as the development of students’ critical thinking abilities and research skills. Overall, the KIR extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 38 Jakarta have been running well and effectively in producing achievements, but still require improvement in terms of equitable guidance and process optimization so that the benefits can be sustainable and felt not only by students but also by the wider public.
