Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna penggunaan simbol bendera One Piece sebagai bentuk praktik kewargaan ditinjau dari perspektif Civic Culture. Fenomena tersebut, dinilai menunjukkan pola perkembangan partisipasi masyarakat di era modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Teknik kalibrasi dan keabsahan data melalui member checking, triangulasi sumber dan teknik, serta validasi ahli dari expert opinion. Adapun subjek penelitian merupakan mahasiswa aktif Program Studi Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan, Fakultas Ilmu Sosial, Universitas Negeri Jakarta yang terlibat maupun memahami penggunaan simbol bendera One Piece sebagai bentuk praktik kewargaan dalam konteks kebebasan berekspresi yang sesuai dengan hak konstitusional. Hasil temuan penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa dalam pandangan informan penggunaan simbol bendera One Piece dimaknai sebagai bentuk praktik kewargaan yang dipahami merepresentasikan nilai-nilai demokrasi, menjadi bentuk keterlibatan mahasiswa, menunjukkan tanggung jawab moral sebagai warga negara, serta membentuk nilai solidaritas antar penggunanya. Dalam kajian perspektif Civic Culture fenomena tersebut mencerminkan orientasi kognitif, afektif dan evaluatif, serta menunjukan partisipasi kebudayaan yang bersifat partisipan dan juga dalam penggunaanya mencerminkan unsur-unsur Civic Culture, seperti kesadaran politik, partisipasi aktif, kerja sama antar warga negara dan toleransi dalam kebebasan berekspresi. Makna pada penggunaan simbol tersebut terbentuk melalui pengalaman individu, interaksi sosial, serta kesesuaiannya dengan realitas sosial-politik yang dirasakan oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan simbol bendera One Piece dapat dikategorikan sebagai praktik kewargaan dalam pandangan informan yang membangun nilai demokrasi partisipatif dan memperluas bentuk partisipasi politik di era modern. Namun, dalam penggunaannya harus tetap memperhatikan kesadaran dan nilai-nilai kebangsaan, supaya tidak menimbulkan permasalahan maupun kesalahpahaman. ***** This study aims to analyze the significance of using the One Piece flag symbol as a form of civic practice from the perspective of civic culture. This phenomenon is considered to reflect patterns of community participation in the modern era. This study employs a qualitative approach using phenomenological methods. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data calibration and validity were ensured through member checking, triangulation of sources and methods, and expert validation based on expert opinion. The research subjects were active students in the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University, who were involved in or understood the use of the One Piece flag symbol as a form of civic practice in the context of freedom of expression in accordance with constitutional rights. The research findings indicate that, in the informant view, the use of the One Piece flag symbol is interpreted as a form of civic engagement understood to represent democratic values, a form of student involvement, a demonstration of moral responsibility as citizens, and a means of fostering solidarity among its users. From the perspective of Civic Culture, this phenomenon reflects cognitive, affective, and evaluative orientations, as well as demonstrating participatory cultural engagement; furthermore, its use embodies elements of Civic Culture, such as political awareness, active participation, cooperation among citizens, and tolerance in the exercise of freedom of expression. The meaning derived from the use of these symbols stems from individual experiences, social interactions, and their alignment with the sociopolitical reality as perceived by the students. This study concludes that the use of the One Piece flag symbol can be categorized as a civic practice, in the informants’ view, that fosters the values of participatory democracy and broadens the scope of political participation in the modern era. However, its use must remain mindful of national consciousness and values so as not to cause problems or misunderstandings.
