Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan metode Drill and Practice dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pengolahan kata (Microsoft Word) siswa kelas X TKJ 2 SMKN 1 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan pre-eksperimen dan desain One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Subjek penelitian adalah 33 siswa kelas X TKJ 2 SMK Negeri 1 Jakarta tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes berupa pretest dan posttest. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes praktik dan lembar kerja peserta didik yang mencakup pembuatan proposal sederhana dan surat undangan menggunakan fitur Mail Merge pada Microsoft Word, serta rubrik penilaian keterampilan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 75, kemudian meningkat pada Posttest I menjadi 88,26 dan pada Posttest II meningkat menjadi 89,65. Hasil analisis N-Gain pada Pretest ke Posttest I menunjukkan nilai skor 0,5711 dengan kategori sedang. Kemudian pada Posttest I ke Posttest II diperoleh nilai skor sebesar 0,0732 yang berada pada kategori rendah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan metode Drill and Practice efektif untuk meingkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam menggunakan Microsoft Word dengan peningkatan paling signifikan terlihat di tahap awal pembelajaran. ***** This study aims to apply the Drill and Practice method to improve word processing skills (Microsoft Word) of grade X TKJ 2 students at SMKN 1 Jakarta. This study employs a quantitative method with a pre-experimental approach and a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were 33 students of grade X TKJ 2 at SMK Negeri 1 Jakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data collection techniques used tests in the form of a pretest and posttest. The research instruments consisted of practical tests and student worksheets, which included creating a simple proposal and an invitation letter using the Mail Merge feature in Microsoft Word, as well as a skill assessment rubric. The results showed that the average pretest score was 75, which then increased to 88.26 in Posttest I, and further increased to 89.65 in Posttest II. The results of the N-Gain analysis from the Pretest to Posttest I showed a score of 0.5711, falling into the medium category. Subsequently, from Posttest I to Posttest II, a score of 0.0732 was obtained, which is in the low category. The results of this study indicate that the Drill and Practice method is effective in improving students’ skills in using Microsoft Word, with the most significant improvement observed in the early stages of learning.
