Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perilaku phubbing (phone snubbing) pada siswa SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta serta menguraikan dampaknya terhadap kualitas interaksi sosial siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 100 siswa kelas VII, VIII, dan IX di SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner yang disusun berdasarkan indikator variabel penelitian dan telah melalui uji validitas dan reliabilitas, serta didukung oleh data observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan catatan lapangan sebagai penguat temuan. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif yang meliputi perhitungan skor, persentase, rata-rata, dan kategorisasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh faktor perilaku phubbing berada pada kategori tinggi, meliputi gangguan komunikasi (54%), obsesi terhadap ponsel (43%), kecanduan internet (50%), Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) (45%), dan rendahnya kontrol diri (45%). Faktor-faktor tersebut mendorong siswa untuk lebih sering menggunakan ponsel saat berinteraksi secara langsung. Selain itu, perilaku phubbing berdampak negatif terhadap kualitas interaksi sosial siswa. Dampak tersebut ditunjukkan oleh komunikasi interpersonal (46%), empati (39%), dan sikap saling menghargai (41%) yang berada pada kategori rendah, serta kerja sama kelompok (36%) dan kehangatan sosial antarsiswa (51%) yang berada pada kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perilaku phubbing merupakan fenomena yang terjadi pada siswa SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta dan cenderung memberikan dampak negatif terhadap kualitas interaksi sosial mereka ***** This study aims to describe phubbing (phone snubbing) behavior among students at SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta and to examine its impact on students' social interaction quality. The study employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 100 students from Grades VII, VIII, and IX at SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta. Data were collected through a questionnaire developed based on the research variable indicators and tested for validity and reliability. The findings were further supported by observations, interviews, documentation, and field notes. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, including score calculation, percentage, mean, and data categorization. The results showed that all factors contributing to phubbing behavior were classified as high, including communication disturbance (54%), mobile phone obsession (43%), internet addiction (50%), Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) (45%), and low self-control (45%). These factors encouraged students to use their mobile phones more frequently during face-to-face interactions. In addition, phubbing behavior had a negative impact on the quality of students' social interactions. This was reflected in interpersonal communication (46%), empathy (39%), and mutual respect (41%), which were categorized as low, while group cooperation (36%) and social warmth among students (51%) were categorized as moderate. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that phubbing behavior is a phenomenon experienced by students at SMP Negeri 163 Jakarta and tends to have a negative impact on the quality of their social interactions.
