Abstract

Hasil PISA 2022 menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 99% siswa Indonesia masih berada pada level Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), yang mencerminkan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Kondisi ini menuntut adanya inovasi pembelajaran yang mampu mendorong pemikiran mendalam, salah satunya melalui pendekatan Deep Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi guru IPS dalam menerapkan pendekatan Deep Learning serta mengidentifikasi hambatan yang dihadapi dalam mendorong kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 16 Jakarta. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap guru IPS, siswa, serta wakil kepala sekolah SMP Negeri 16 Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru IPS menerapkan tiga strategi utama, yaitu: (1) strategi pengorganisasian, melalui perancangan pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis fenomena sosial aktual; (2) strategi penyampaian, melalui kombinasi metode Problem Based Learning, inkuiri, diskusi kelompok, dan Project Based Learning; serta (3) strategi pengelolaan, melalui penciptaan suasana belajar yang kondusif, adaptif, dan berpusat pada siswa. Adapun hambatan. yang ditemukan mencakup: (1) kompetensi guru yang masih terbatas dalam merancang asesmen berbasis HOTS dan menyusun pertanyaan pemantik yang efektif; (2) karakteristik siswa yang beragam, termasuk rendahnya literasi dasar, keberadaan siswa berkebutuhan khusus, dan partisipasi yang masih pasif; serta (3) sarana dan prasarana yang belum memadai, terutama ketersediaan proyektor yang belum merata.Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa keberhasilan implementasi Deep Learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dapat dijalankan dengan kombinasi strategi pembelajaran guru yang tepat dan dukungan sarana prasarana yang memadai. ***** The results of the 2022 PISA test show that more than 99% of Indonesian students are still at the Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) level, reflecting students' low critical thinking abilities. This condition demands learning innovations that can encourage deep thinking, one of which is through the Deep Learning approach. This study aims to describe the strategies of social studies teachers in implementing the Deep Learning approach and identify the obstacles faced in encouraging critical thinking skills of grade IX students at SMP Negeri 16 Jakarta. The study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of social studies teachers, students, and the vice principal of SMP Negeri 16 Jakarta. The results show that social studies teachers apply three main strategies, namely: (1) organizational strategies, through designing contextual learning based on actual social phenomena; (2) delivery strategies, through a combination of Problem Based Learning methods, inquiry, group discussions, and Project Based Learning; and (3) management strategies, through creating a conducive, adaptive, and student centered learning atmosphere. As for the obstacles. The findings include: (1) limited teacher competency in designing HOTS-based assessments and developing effective trigger questions; (2) diverse student characteristics, including low basic literacy, the presence of students with special needs, and passive participation; and (3) inadequate facilities and infrastructure, especially the uneven distribution of projectors. This study concludes that the successful implementation of Deep Learning in improving students' critical thinking skills can be achieved with a combination of appropriate teacher learning strategies and adequate infrastructure support.
