Abstract

***** University students are vulnerable to changes in eating frequency and consumption patterns due to academic demands and internal and external factors, which may affect nutritional status measured by Body Mass Index (BMI). This study aimed to analyze the relationship between eating frequency, consumption patterns, and BMI among Culinary Arts students from the 2022–2023 cohorts at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. A quantitative correlational study with a cross-sectional survey design was conducted. The population comprised 234 students, with 147 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Eating frequency was assessed using a Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), consumption patterns using 24-hour Food Recall, and BMI through anthropometric measurements. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test and ordinal logistic regression. The results showed that eating frequency was generally inadequate. Most students also had inadequate dietary consumption patterns, although the majority had a normal BMI. There was a significant relationship between eating frequency, dietary consumption patterns, and BMI. Eating frequency and dietary consumption patterns explained 14,6% of the variation in BMI, with eating frequency identified as the determining factor.
