Abstract

***** This study was conducted to examine the effect of perceived social support on self-esteem among victims of emotional abuse in dating relationships during emerging adulthood. This study employed a quantitative method, and the results were analyzed using simple linear regression. Data were collected through a survey using a questionnaire. The instruments used in this study were the Multidimensional Measure of Emotional Abuse – Short Form (MMEA-SF) as a screening tool to identify respondents who met the criteria for victims of emotional abuse in dating relationships, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) to measure self-esteem levels, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) to measure the social support perceived by respondents. The study sample consisted of 288 individuals in emerging adulthood who were victims of emotional abuse in dating relationships. The findings of this study indicate that perceived social support influences self-esteem among victims of emotional abuse in dating relationships during emerging adulthood, with a significance level of < 0.001, where perceived social support contributes 24.6% to self-esteem. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis in this study is accepted.
