Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan kemampuan yang diperlukan siswa untuk menghadapi tantangan pembelajaran dan kehidupan modern. Namun, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih belum berkembang secara optimal karena pembelajaran belum berpusat pada siswa, siswa cenderung berfokus pada hafalan, serta siswa kesulitan dalam menjawab soal-soal yang memerlukan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang berpotensi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis adalah model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan Gallery Walk. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control Group Design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di salah satu SMA di Bogor dengan jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 78 siswa yang diperoleh melalui simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa data berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan Independent Sample t-test yang memperoleh nilai signifikansi (Sig. 2-tailed) sebesar 0,015. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan Gallery Walk berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siwa. Oleh karena itu, model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan Gallery Walk dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. /***** Critical thinking skills are essential for students to meet the challenges of modern learning and life. However, students’ critical thinking skills have not yet developed optimally because learning is not yet student-centered, students tend to focus on memorization, and they have difficulty answering questions that require critical thinking. One learning model that has the potential to enhance critical thinking skills is the 5E Learning Cycle model combined with a Gallery Walk. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the 5E Learning Cycle model combined with a Gallery Walk on high school students’ critical thinking skills on the topic of ecosystem. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control Group Design. The study was conducted at a senior high school in Bogor with a sample of 78 students, selected using a simple random sampling. Data were collected using a critical thinking skills test and an observation sheet. The results of the data analysis indicated that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Hypothesis testing data using an Independent Sample t-test, which showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0,015. These results indicate that the implementation of the 5E Learning Cycle model combined with a Gallery Walk has a significant effect on students’ critical thinking skills. Therefore, the 5E Learning Cycle model combined with a Gallery Walk can be used as an alternative learning model enhance students’ critical thinking skills.
