Abstract
Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara daring menggunakan dua instrumen, yaitu Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) versi ibu untuk mengukur kelekatan ibu, serta skala The Disease to Please untuk mengukur kecenderungan perilaku people pleasing. ***** This study aims to examine the effect of mother's attachment on people-pleasing tendencies among college students in DKI Jakarta. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and cross-sectional method. The participants were 304 active university students aged 18–25 years who lived in DKI Jakarta and were selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected online using the mother version of the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) to measure mother attachment and the Disease to Please Scale to measure people-pleasing behavior. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that mother attachment significantly predicted people-pleasing behavior among students, with a negative effect (B = -0.077; β = -0.252). This means that students with stronger and more secure attachment to their mothers tend to show lower levels of people-pleasing behavior. Mother attachment explained 6.3% of the variation in people-pleasing behavior (R² = .063), while the remaining 93.7% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Therefore, mother attachment is an important factor related to people-pleasing tendencies among university students, although it is not the only factor that determines this behavior.
